Around the NHL - Part XLV (Playoffs edition)

I'll give Pionk credit, he has firmly cemented himself as an NHL player after being very much not that with the Rangers.

Still, he's Zac Jones. This is nothing to stress yourself out over.

A really smart, good looking, former high major DOBO said many times that we should have traded Trouba and a first for Pionk.

Neal Pionk's gonna have a 15 year career and make > 75 million dollars.

Wake me when Zac Jones has a single season as good as any of Pionk's playing 21+ mins a night all situations farting out 30+ points a year in his sleep.

You're describing Zac Jones if he played a lot.

Zac Jones main barrier to playing a lot is convincing a coach he should be playing a lot. We'll see if he can convince anyone.
Yeah but like, I don't care who people think should be playing a lot. Look at who the Rangers think should be playing a lot. And then the Avalanche (who are pretty good actually!) traded assets for one of those guys so he could lose game 7.

We should give zero deference to the opinions of people running hockey teams and the evidence is mountainous.

Pionk isn't particularly good. He's a mediocre offensive D who ideally slots in as a #4. There's 50 of him in the league. You can get one every single offseason. In fact, you can get better for cheaper every single offseason.

There's plenty to pick from to criticize the Rangers. We don't need to sit here and mourn the loss of a nobody.

And if you really wanna complain, we've done worse more recently!

Year 5 of blaming Braden Schneider's partner for him being bad coming up next.
And when we finally give up on him, he'll go to some playoff team, be the same NPC he's always been, and we'll say "I can't believe we traded Braden Schneider!"

At least Lindgren did us a solid and like, visibly shit himself so we didn't have to hear that.

So, let me get this straight, the whole league could have a "mediocre offensive D who ideally slots in as a #4" basically for free and they've all taken a pass on that?

That doesn't sound quite right.

I could see saying that Jones has similarities to Pionk but, let's be honest, Jones can't hold Pionk's socks at this point.
