Must be very mentally strong to still be trying to come back after 3 years. I think he has a lot of people rooting for him.

Im rooting for him. One of the more courageous players and leaders in the NHL. Doesnt shock me the Avs havent sniffed the Final since he went down.

22 points in 20 games with 11 goals while skating on a knee with the structural integrity of smoked brisket. Beast.

Rooting for him as well, but the odds are really against this having a happy ending. 3 years away is a lifetime for pro athletes, very few in any sport have made it back.

Joe Montana & Mike Sherrard in the NFL come to mind, but I can't think of anyone off the top of my head in the NHL who came back from major injury and made an impact.

Sean Day and Nate Bastien among the guys on that team

Michael McLeod too.

Well, if his playing career ended in winning the Stanley Cup, at least that's something. And apparently the injury isn't like threatening his off-ice life. So he will continue to collect a nice pay cheque via LTIR to the end of his deal, and then probably get a coaching or front office job I would assume.

I was referring to him returning to a full time player who can actually contribute on the ice. I think it goes without saying that 99.9% of these dudes already are living fairy tale lives compared to the rest of the population.

Pretty furious we couldn’t get bjorkstrand and gourde last year when Seattle was moving on anyway. Those two would have been much better than Ros & wenn

There was some incident with Sean Day's brother around that time too. A vehicular homicide or something like that and I think he'd gone to prison for. If I remember Day was having psychological issues with that.

Noted Spencer Martin Carolina's goalie on that team too.

The Tampa-Seattle trade is an eyebrow lift. Great if they win the Cup---terrible if they don't. Two 1st's, a 2nd and Eyssimont. They don't have a 1st now the next 3 years. When some of their guys really start to age out this is a team that could go down hard.
Bring Cooper here when he wants to exit Tampa

That NJ window is getting smaller and smaller.

See I've been trying to talk some of these Devils fans back from the ledge on the NHL thread about this. Telling them they should wait and see.....it might not be that bad. Maybe I got some hopes up. Now comes the crash I guess. Oh well. Most of them seem to hate us anyway. Their team anyway didn't seem that serious or at least to me.

Jack has elite skills but small and as slight as he is it's tough. If the game was just about skills.....but then the game would be a lot less interesting for me anyway. That's an accident that could happen at any time to almost anyone.
