Folks can say what they want but if youre actually watching hockey, tony deangelo has been very very good for the isles. Forget the goal tonight, in his own end he was the best isles dman
Im not surprised. He has mixed in good seasons with bad seasons previously. Question is will he keep it up next season.

If he keeps playing like this he’s not only gonna have suitors on July 1, hes gonna have multiple offering multi-year deals. He has been unbelievable.

He saved 3 goals tonight. Can only find one on twitter video wise though

He also tied up hagels stick on a cross ice feed from kuch that wouldve been a tap in

And on a 6 on 5 he ate one to save sorokin.

Im not a Tony D fan. He has acted like a jerk multiple times BUT the skill is there.

I’m a fan. I loved the piss and vinegar he played with. In some dark rebuilding years here, the unpredictable element he brought to the ice and firey nature was something I appreciated it. Wish we had more guys who compete and play with his edge on this current roster. Too many guys out there doing cardio every night

I agree with a lot of that. My problem with him is how he acted towards us in Carolina.

That I cant fault him for.

1) our franchise tried to quite literally end his career
2) type of guy you hate if hes not on your team, love him if he is. For me that same bucket is tom wilson and garnett hathaway. HATE playing them, would LOVE them on my team

Im far from a passive guy I draw the line for a few guys. Tony had teammates here. Most former teammates show some respect. He has had issues in several stops so it will be interesting to see if he matured.

Only teammate youll find saying a bad word about him is that loser georgiev who the entire locker room hated.

Tonys still super tight with fox, lindgren, vesey, hayes. They all vacation together. Trocheck is probably his best friend in the league as well

The team didn't look to thrilled with Tony in the playoffs but I didn't know he stayed friends with some guys. I do think he has gone too far at times.

When he's joining a hot team, winning a bunch of games and performing above expectations, I'm not sure if anyone's ever had a problem with the guy. At least here, he seemed like someone who would really lose his head and spiral when things got tough.

Not that it matters at all, but Trocheck is also "best friends" with Miller, a guy who may have single-handedly dismantled the Canucks dressing room, and forced them into a premature rebuild. Guys can be nice to some people and complete jackasses to others.

What matters as much, or more, than his play on the ice, is how he handles his next set of lockerroom issues. And it's impossible to look at his history as a teammate and not have serious doubts about how well that will go.

A reminder we beat this team 5-0 recently and it wasn't even that close.

Hes never had locker room issues though. I still dont understand how thats a narrative.

A player on the canucks didnt like jt because he was a competitor and demanded more from soft players

Multiple incidents of racist and homophobic slurs in juniors. Multiple incidents of ref contact ejections in juniors, and one in the NHL.

No other player on our roster at the time would have gotten in a fistfight with Georgiev. He chirped Geo enough that it turned into a physical altercation between the two of them. They are equally to blame for being idiots.

In Russia, there were multiple quotes from his coach (while he was benching/scratching ADA) about how no player is bigger than the team.

Again, he's a good player. Offensive D with some bite. If he had his head on straight, every team in the league would have lined up to give him a league minimum salary this summer, instead of watching him go overseas.

But they wouldn't have gotten a chance, because Carolina would have extended him. But Carolina wouldn't have gotten a chance, because we wouldn't have bought him out. But he wouldn't have been a Ranger, because Arizona would have hitched their wagon to him.

He needs to be handled with kid gloves. Which isn't unique in the league, but there's no denying that he wears out welcomes pretty quickly.

I didnt watch enough carolina. But since i kinda follow the devs and isles as theyre also local teams ive been watching all his games and honestly idk wtf happened but hes looked unbelievable out there, especially in his own end.

Does the khl have bigger rinks and now maybe he feels its easier? Idk what happened haha but he looks unbelievable.
It's possible bigger rinks rewired some of his instincts and now he plays the geometry better.

If you ever shot a basketball on an 8 foot rim after using regulation hoops you're basically Steph Curry on all the Adderall for about 5 mins until your brain readjusts.

However it is very, very likely to just be positive variance.

Finland better hope there aren't any more injuries on D, because the only two eligible d men not on the roster now are Heinola and Matinpalo lol
