Pretty cool.

Also almost Rempe's career output in this game.

Actually far cooler than the fact that he also had an assist, he has 1G in the ECHL, 2G in the AHL and now 1G in the NHL. He’s scored 4 goals in professional hockey leagues. Kinda crazy.

Checking the Seattle box scores and seeing “K. Kaako” with points is becoming a thing.

Of course, it means nothing.

Or it could mean everything.

Good luck to him, I guess….

Damn… I don’t make much of small sample sized and obviously usage and such matter - and I’ll happily admit I haven’t been watching Kraken games - but 12 points in 14 games but only averaging 16:30, so still not playing tons of minutes. Kakko is going to end up being the case study. How do we get a kid like that, completely fail to develop him yet give him enough development for him to take off instantaneously when he leaves? Because if he keeps up a .8+ pace we will be asking ourselves about it forever and it’s pretty wild to think that we genuinely just can’t empower talented young players to play as if they have talent (it also brings up a question about why anyone would devote time to watching this team, should this be true). I mean, shit, at this point now I’m wondering if Laf is a 90 point player elsewhere. Again, small sample but… not looking like a great reflection on our organization.
It's a complicated issue. A lot of it is on deployment and development IMO, but roster construction is also a big factor. Kakko did get his shot in the top-6, but his playing style simply didn't mesh with Kreider and Zibanejad.

There is no doubt Laf could be better somewhere else. He was only this year starting to get PP1 time. He sucked, but guess what? Maybe he should've had that from day 1.

What is important, is that they don't ruin Berard and Perreault now. They need big roles when they are brought up.

No no guys, Kakko has improved on his skating since we traded him to Seattle. He was a terrible skater here, but now he’s not! He was never really that talented either - him torching a bunch of veteran players at the World Championships as an 18 year old was just a fluke.

It’s entirely his fault he didn’t succeed here. The Rangers did everything right. They always do! Just look at their track record of developing players.

Okay, see this is what I was thinking too. Thank you for confirming what I already knew deep down.

I could barely believe my eyes when I checked the box score for the Flyers/Devils game and saw that neither team broke the 20 shot mark. The Flyers averaged 6 shots per period and the Devils 4.3 shots per period. Thrilling. There were 31 combined shots. I was curious if any games this season have had a lower combined shot total - but apparently the NHL website doesn't keep records of that stat category.

You and I agree on most things. I am very much in this place right now.

I’m 43 years old. I don’t consume sports the same way I did when I was 12. These guys aren’t my heroes.

I am mostly interested in how teams are managed. I feel like I understand how to identify talent and build winning teams. I find myself disagreeing with the majority of decisions and moves that this team makes, so I find myself wondering why I don’t just choose to support a management team that does things the way I would do them.

That’s the rational thing to do. Sports fandom remains irrational though. I can’t help loving this team even when there’s not really much to love.

Clearly they just got him in a room with Barb Underhill

At least I get to watch the Will Borgen defense team going while Kakko outscores our whole top line combined since he’s been traded. That keeps me quite warm.

We. Are. Joke. I’m so happy for this kid. Beniers is like if Chytil never had a concussion and wasn’t afraid of contact while playing with his head down.
