Embarrassing defense is being played by both sides. At least they have an exciting brand of hockey, thats what matters right? :sarcasm:

I don't know about you guys but I enjoy seeing two teams like the Devils and Rangers pride themselves on defense. Not this wide open crap being displayed right now.

After watching the Rangers game yesterday and the Devils-Sens game the day before, quite frankly I think I had my fill of defensive hockey.

Just think about where our brands got us last year and look what happened to them. This is definitely fun to watch but I never want to see my defense that loose. :shakehead

Not me, too much play in the middle is exactly why I stopped watching soccer.

Too much credit is given to the defensive play. Both teams had above average offenses and Brodeur/Lundqvist also were factors.

I don't want to see this brand of hockey. I prefer something similar to what Detroit played for 20 years. Puck control on offense, solid defense. I know not every team is laden with HOFers like the Wings over the years. Then I'd prefer something like what we're seeing from Chicago. The Rangers and Devils have exciting players. They don't play exciting hockey. However, it's a lot easier to play the Rangers, Devils, Blues, Predators, and Coyotes style than it is to form a team that can play exciting on offense and be solid on defense. So just by playing the odds you'll see a lot more teams make the conference finals, finals, and win the whole shebang, playing our style. It's not because it's more effective, it's because more teams will play it.

I'd love to know if Slats was in the running for Neal. I really wanted him as I figured we were the front-runner for BR and if we could keep them playing together we'd be all set.

We were. I remember the asking price started with Staal and that was a huge turnoff to Slats.

I didn't realize hockey was allowed to be played in front or the net and you could trade chances and skate fast and if you happen to turn the puck over before the goal line you were allowed to play another shift.
I'm a NYR fan I never knew hockey was more than perimeter play and cycling

So does this mean that the Stars equated Goligoski to Staal?

Boy do they have some geniuses there.

Stop. We do play in front of the net.

Just, only when its our own goalie and they are shooting it at us.

Seriously, we do better job of screening Hank than we do of the other goalie. No joke.

Nice, learned something new and expanded your horizons. Would have to chalk today up as good day then, hey?
