Colorado could still knock out Winnipeg. Let's not forget how quickly these series can turn. Hellebuyck gave up 6 and the Jets typically don't have the make-up scoring Colorado does.

As shaky as Georgiev is, he won't keep literally giving up 7. Hellebuyck needs to be really good.

That was a very strange game for hellebuyck - he can't possible look worse and hopefully he's gotten all the jitters and yips out of the way.

Hellebuyck won't keep on giving up 6 either. He was really shaky yesterday but theres no reason to expect that to continue.

But I'm on the same train of thought. Said it yesterday, saw A LOT in this game that would give me comfort if I rooted for the Avs and would worry the f*** out of me if I were a Jets fan. Colorado had zero trouble getting things generated.

It'd be one thing if the Jets were pulled into a track meet and happened to come out on top, but this was a drubbing where they just happened to score on 1 out of every 3 shots they took. Now its possible that Georgiev continues to be bad (and the Avs defense is ass too so as fun as it is to shit on Geo, its not 100% on him) but the chances are they're going to go to the other guy as soon as hes able to play. It might be too late by then, but it makes game 2 just as important for them as it is for Colorado.

I kind of feel the same way about TOR-BOS but TOR's plan B is probably worse than Plan A and the Boston goalie duo is legit good.

Boston invites trouble leaning on their goalies to stop volume and it's a legit weakness.

At the same time, Toronto generates a lot of chances and always "should" score more.

Still, analytics people a lot smarter than I am always told me that after years, you are what you are.

The Leafs have to prove it's not same old Leafs.

So Sabres go back to Ruff...
What has changed either with him or them since they got rid of him last time that he is now 'the answer'?
NHL coaching decisions really are weird

Sabres players were hinting at wanting harder practices during their exit meetings and they hire Ruff? Such a poor choice for that team. As someone with family in Buffalo, I really wanna like that team but they seem pretty hopeless.

I am 100% serious when I say I’m not sure NHL teams are aware there are more potential coaching candidates than the current 32 guys plus the ~5 ass retreads in limbo at any given time.

There's a kid that I frequently see go to school on my way to work. He's always dressed in something Sabres: the cap, t-shirt, jersey, sweats, hoodie, coat, you name it.

But I always found it odd...because he looks to be maybe 11 or 12 and the last time that team made it to the playoffs was 13 years ago. It's a little overboard when you wear that much of your team regalia when your team wins it all, but it's kind of acceptable...but this?!

That's short bus material! So that there are Sabre fans who like the Ruff hire I'm honestly not surprised: short bus mentality probably runs deep in that city.

They like it because Ruff is old and has the reputation of being a hard ass which works with the current narrative that Granato was inexperienced and too easy on the team making them “soft”. A lot of laziness/nostalgia and spamming of the term accountability

Yeah the mental part of it all is a thing.

It's part of the reason why I don't really fear Carolina even though everything says that I should (especially this year, I believe that over the last 25 games of the season they were #1 in rush offense in the league.) I just assume that at some point they'll either forget how to score or their goalies will forget how to stop the puck because every year one or the other happens (in the case of our series against them in 2022, by the end of it both of those things happened.)
