Have to think Sullivan get's fired from Pittsburgh so that Keefe can be brought in.

I remember when Sheldon Keefe was highly coveted by this fanbase before we hired David Quinn. The guy had Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, etc... couldn't get it done.

I'm happy where we are and the path we chose to get here.

I notice you didn't mention anyone who plays defense or goaltending.

Leafs are still learning that you need more than regular season scoring to win. I think Marner gets moved for a stud defensive dman and a goalie.

I don't think you need a world class goaltender to win a Cup. Look at Adin Hill just last year. Binnington in 2019. With what Toronto has had offensively they should have gone deeper than they have during his tenure, defensemen notwithstanding. They didn't give up much against Boston outside of Game 1. They didn't give up much against Florida last year. Three of their four losses in that series were by one goal.

what's the best top 4 D group they've had since tavares signed? they've always been suspect.

Keefe to NJD seems like an obvious fit.

They've gotten goalied in both of their series losses.

They outplayed Boston this year and Florida last year. Swayman and Bobrovsky were just much better than what they were throwing out there.

Theres more to it than that and I don't know why they've decided to build their defense around Morgan Reilly (and even worse, surround him with meat shield oafs.) McCabe is a good oaf as far as oafs go, but you really only need one of him.

there were times where they played 5 and the other 4 are all much worse than he is.

Keefe is a good coach, and should land another job soon and I expect him to do well with it. He obviously has to take blame at least for the abysmal power play of the Leafs, which played a big part of their downfall. But besides that, I think he did a pretty good job with a flawed roster.

Also seems like a very nice guy, can't say that for all the coaches. That was a classy video. He also apparently was given the option of participating in the Leafs locker room cleanout on Monday, which he took and had a similar message there: I take responsibility for the failure. Can't say the same for a lot of the Leafs players who spoke that day.
