In hindsight why were we so enthralled by the Devils? Yes they beat the Rangers in 7 but losing in 5 games and getting blown out by 4+ goals in three of the games does not scream playoff ready team. Then Carolina got swept next round.

Edit: Extending to our series, they had 7 losses, 6 by 3 goals or more.

"Stacked top to bottom" - TheAthletic when NJD were 4 points out of a playoff spot at some point in Jan or whatever

Marner's an idiot, and with the amount of media training available to these guys it's a strange thing to come out and say, but he's not wrong. Sports stars in general, and hockey players in Toronto in particular, are absolutely deified; but not in the 'all knowing and all powerful' way, its more like the Norse gods or something where people worship them while also hearing about all their failings and weird stories, and then trying to make too much meaning out of 'signs' that aren't really there.

Getting this on the record now so I don’t sound like Captain Hindsight:

Anyone who thinks the Bruins are an easy out for Florida is kidding themselves. Panthers may win, but Boston is going to be extra motivated to avoid back to back losses to Florida. They’re a physical team that won’t go down without taking an arm or a leg with them.

Additionally, for all the comments about how the Bruins haven’t won anything, I don’t think there’s a team that gets more out of its lineup than Boston. They remind me of the Islanders a few years ago - mediocre lineup but everyone is bought in.
