I remember him originally wanting to stay but with BA year long evaluation didn't think he was core. Then he was treated like crap for a year and traded for a very low value. Let me do some digging while waiting for food.

Chych was already 6-7 years into the league and been through 3 half-assed rebuilds.

He just didn’t want to go through another one he knew was going to be protracted.

I've seen it several times before where someone gets moved into a role that gets them away from hockey operations, but it's dressed up as a "promotion" of some kind. This appears to be one of those cases.

People keep saying. Oh he played with Kane and now Ovi. If he didn't have the elite hockey IQ and being a very good passer, he wouldn't be playing on the top PP units and scoring and putting up points.
