The Twilight Zone
What happened to Boston and Colorado this season ? I would have expected Boston to be great this year since they added Elias Lindholm but now looking at his stats he's horrible.

Boston is just looking old and not that talented, and even guys like Hampus look like they're slipping. Those 3 straight whiffs in the first round of the '15 draft are killing them right now ... those guys are supposed to be their 27 year old core prime players. Imagine adding Barzal, Boeser, and Connor to the current lineup. Instead they got a whole lotta nothing out of it. They've been picking so late otherwise, so naturally they don't have up and coming star youngsters ... 2015 was their shot to reload/retool without having to rebuild, and they missed.

They can try again this year, if they do a partial dismantle ... try to retool on the fly again. They have enough valued pieces to where they could probably pull something off. But they have to be willing to admit that it's needed.

I think Hampus is moveable contract (isn't it less AAV than Fowler ?), he might not be productive offensively like before but he's still defensively great and Boston is on a 3 game losing streak without him in the lineup.

Term is the problem with him. Including this year it's 6 more years, you'd have to be sure you're okay with potentially paying for those later years on a guy who may be declining already.

Very glad we didn't draft him. Great player but back issues at 18 is a no go for a high pick for me.
I remember people saying that Columbus draft table look pissed off when Anaheim selected Sennecke.
I'm now thinking since Russians do not like playing in Columbus long term for some reason that Demidov might never have been a realistic option for Columbus. After Sennecke, Lindstrom and Demidov the next group of players are a tier lower.

Among other things, his interview about the whole thing when he returned for the first time... Next level weasel.
Well in that case it'll be funny if he ends up stuck in Boston while they go into a rebuild.
Rakell's team is not any better either, Erik Karlsson its safe to say he will never have his name on the Stanley Cup because I can't see Pittsburgh being able to trade him without including future 1sts that would hurt their rebuild.

It was shorter, but the total amount of dinero was more IIRC.

I don't recall that total amount was more. I just know the AAV was higher, but the term was far shorter. Verbeek was really stuck to his rubric when he was first hired. Years later, he's offering multi-year deals to 34-year old Killorn (4 years) and 33-year old Gudas (3 years). Lindholm's 8th year of his 8-year term, he would be 35 years old. Lindholm's AAV with Boston was $6.5 mil AAV, but said he would have given the Ducks a hometown discount. Verbeek gave Killorn $6.25 mil AAV.

No idea why there's hate for Lindholm when he wanted to stay for less to finish his career with the Ducks.

Keeping Lindholm and Rakell means NO Carlsson, Mintyukov, Sennecke, Luneau(pick in rakell trade) and Clara (pick was from Lindholm trade). With both of them in the lineup they'd have drafted mid 1st in 2022 around #17. Then probably #10 to #15 range in 2023 & 2024. The rebuild would be behind SJ's.

I posted about the Lindholm hate and contract query.

Dunno where I said we should be "keeping Lindholm AND Rakell". You can feel free to post a comment about keeping either, but don't quote me that I stated we needed to "keep Lindholm and Rakell". That's bullshit and a totally different conversation.

I was not aware we had beef with lindholm

There is no hate or beef here, it's just an oppinion based on available facts.

Hockey Duckie, we discussed this ad nauseam before, so I will not go there again.
