wow Fleury was dynamite against the wild. Is Billy G already putting his stamp on the wild? The wild are way better then last season, and are legit.

Helps when you get a player like Kaprisov......just goes to show how one player CAN make a difference. Kinda like Jagr in the late 90's.

Who are people rooting for in Wash - Bos?

If we advance, Id rather play Caps. But Tom Wilson has made me absolutely despised the Capitals

Kinda excited to see McDavid in the playoffs-not gonna lie. Really feeling something special out of him and I get such a joy to watch him. He does everything at such high speed-its like watching a thoroughbred gallop around the pasture. He's gonna need some maintenance and special treatment but boy, when he goes you just sit back and go "WOW"

I could see him possibly challenging the post-season record for points in a single post-season one of these years.

The record is only 47 points, because the '85 Oilers were so good that they only needed 18 games to win the Cup. That likely won't be a problem for the current Oilers if they ever make a run . Malkin managed 36 points once, Kucherov has had 34. I think it's very possible McDavid could blow those totals out of the water some day.

I think McDavid needs to change his game for the playoffs so will see. McDavid had almost 40% of this points on the PP. There are way less PowerPlays in the Playoffs. Also look at last nights game. They are letting pretty much all holding and tripping go. Teams are going to be drape on him with no calls.

Um, he's also the league leader in even strength points....

That will be the thing to watch throughout the series: how will the Jets approach McDavid? It's going to have to be a team effort - forwards and defense - to contain him through the NZ.

You gotta jam him like a wide receiver at the Oilers blue line because if he gets 4 or 5 strides you're donzo

Mike Johnson (TV guy, not the coach) suggested they have an agile forward stay with him through the NZ, like what Montreal did in the reg. season. However, I can't remember what type of NZ forecheck they used (1-2-2, 1-1-3, etc.).

Ya that worked for the first five games of the season then the oilers held Mcdavid back and had him circle behind the net and activate a dman (nurse) and they totally unraveled Montreals system and McDavid was able to start a couple of those rushes and had like 8 points in the last 4 games against Montreal after scoring 2 or 3 in the first 5

I'm saying the lw needs to chip McDavid and throw his timing off. If not its gonna be a very short series for Winnipeg

Ya I know but your talking about him beating a record 47 pts. He would have to be clicking close to 2ppg. I could see him getting into mid 30's but 47 pts its a big difference.

McDavid feasts on weak teams, though. Look what he did this year versus Ottawa, Vancouver, and Winnipeg (good team, but terrible defense) versus what he did versus Toronto (the only good team in that division). He's going to be facing a lot more Torontos in the playoffs than he will those weak teams.

That's not to say he won't put up impressive numbers. But I think averaging almost 2 points per game against the best teams in the league over 4 grueling rounds is far different than doing that against those bottom feeders in the North.

I don't like the Jets chances at all over 7 games. If you're relying on your goalie to steal the series and stop McDavid and Draisaitl, then that's a recipe for failure. McDavid gets high danger chances from so close in on the goalie that he has no time to react. Your D HAVE to be able to keep him more to the perimeter at least, and I don't think they're capable of doing that consistently.

I love the Jets forward group even sans Ehlers, but it's not enough for me. Oilers in 6 tops.

Whoever makes it out of the North will get decimated by the real opponents they play. Be it Vegas, Minny or Colorado.

The North reminds me a lot of the East in the sense that they don't really pose a serious threat to challenge for the Cup against teams in the West or Central.

Reirden should really be forced to sit down with a notebook and watch the Bruins PP on repeat....
