Nah. San Jose live in a state of constant denial that one of these seasons the team will get there. I expect that state of denial to continue and the 'hold 'em' philosophy to stay intact.

Plus, Thornton considers the Rangers to be soft. Surely, he would not compromise his standards for something as vulgar as money :sarcasm:

On 24/7 they said they had everything done except for a No move / No trade.

also, 7 mill per is not a "steal" for phanuef. He's constantly caught out of position and takes stupid penalties.

I wish the ranger game was on today instead of yestarday so i'd have something to watch for my birthday :laugh:

Phaneuf at 7/7 might be the worst post-last-lockout contract in the NHL. Seriously.
 
We're really going to have to get our **** together in the second half of the year :laugh:

Rangers have a 6'7 wussy in Boyle, a 6'4 wussy in Nash, had a 6'6 wuss in Malik.. see the similarities.. Rangers get big guys that play soft.. :help: Peter Popovic 6'6 Kevin Hatcher 6'4 Tom Poti 6'3 the list goes on and on :help: size dont matter much if you dont know how to use it.

Top 20 defenseman? LOL. You're crazy. He's overrated, overpaid, and has never won a playoff round. Absolute pass on long term big dollar commitment for a guy like that. Not a Phaneuf fan at all.

He's absolutely a top 20 defenseman. Overpaid you can make a case for, and he's supposed to carry his trash Toronto team through the playoffs? Not his fault they can't win anything, and it wasn't his fault Calgary couldn't win anything. Just like it's not Lundqvist's fault this team can't win anything. Him never winning a playoff round is really irrelevant in the kind of player he is.

Lundvist's team won a round. More than once. More than twice. More than 3 times. Lundqvist's team didn't have one of the biggest playoff collapses in NHL history with a supposedly 7 million dollar "top 20" defenseman. I think I could name 30 guys on D I'd rather have than Dion Phaneuf pretty easily.

Seabrook, McD, Chara, Seidenberg, Bieska, Doughty, Karlsson, Keith, Shattenkirk, Kronwall, Subban, Bouwmeester, Pietrangelo, Yandle, Fowler, Suter, Weber, Ekman-Larsson, Greene, Franson, Wisniewski, Campbell, Boyle, Leddy, Streit, Johnson, Jones, Enstrom, Coburn, Martin, Letang, etc...

We'll just agree to disagree. Phaneuf is not the guy I build my D around and not the guy I spend 10% of my cap on. No thank you.

Yeah I'm not arguing this, but I'm going to say some of the D you'd take over him are very suspect.

I'll take Phaneuf over Leddy, Martin, Coburn, Enstrom, Streit, Greene and Wisniewski. Those guys arent better than Phaneuf and i'm not even a big Phaneuf fan

Game 7, 3 goal lead in the 3rd, and I have to spell out why I'm questioning whether or not Dion Phaneuf is a top 20 D in the league? He was a -2 in the game and on the ice for the tying goal. Sure, it's a team game, but he's the supposedly "the" guy and that **** shouldn't happen.

Never liked the guy as a #1 (or 2). Still don't. He'd be a great 3.
