OT: Around the NHL: Final stretch to the playoffs

Montreal, in the game that would all but clinch the final playoff spot in the East, has managed 8 whopping shots halfway through the 3rd period.

The game is still scoreless because Toronto can't score.

Montreal is going to give Washington fits. Don’t see it going like 2010 since the roster isn’t even close but it’s not going to be a sweep.

once you stop getting all world goal tending it exposes flaws, be interesting to see what NY does with that draft pick. there is a chance they are this bad next year as well. depends on Igor (and Fox) more then anything. those two are way below normal performance levels.

Boston is a shit show but they even realized they needed to make sweeping changes to quickly right the ship, sure they fired the coach which was dumb because Monty is a legit good coach, but they also went and moved out old pieces and will likely rebound faster than the Penguins.

Rangers I am curious about, if they walk from Lavi which I think most feel they will, they will also be looking for a new coach, this is where firing Sullivan would be smart as there are a lot of vacancies that will be up for grabs and a dipshit like him would get hired by some new sucker GM.

Hell I think for as many bad contracts the Rangers have, they’ll also rebound faster than the Pens.

All this is based on if the Pens don’t fire Sully. Because if they do, I think the Pens will start their bounce back quicker than those two teams. If they don’t, well you’ve seen the last 3 seasons.
 
So Poehling since Torts has been fired - 6 games, 4 goals, 5 assists for 9pts. Virtually all of their top young players are at a ppg or better since Torts was fired. Lmao.

I think Torts is done. He won’t be hired by anyone else as head coach. The comments he made and the way he’s used young players, I think most GMs now are like that isn’t worth it to fix anything Torts is perceived to fix as a hard headed coach.

Ruff was just casualty of stupidity from a GM that is a puppet of dumb ownership. He was literally done after the Devils and most felt would be retiring, but Buffalo bringing him back was just hilarious and shows why that franchise will never end this drought. No one else was ever going to hire Ruff as a coach. At best he’d be a consultant or “scout” as a part time role like Martin was doing for some team, if Buffalo didn’t go and do the dumbest thing by hiring him.
