OT: Around the NHL: Final stretch to the playoffs

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Thing is it doesn't matter if the agent said that to the Avs. The issue is Tulsky either took their word that it was what he wanted without ever confirming it or they didn't ask at all or cared to and figured they'd get it done.

Worst is knowing the Canes could have offered Jake the same money and he wanted to stay and they let him go by trading his rights to Tampa. Then they get a bloke that straight up said I will only sign with 4 teams, one being Oilers where he really wanted to go, but he never wanted to be in Carolina.

That's absolutely awful. Tulsky royally f***ed them within a calendar year of two massive gambles and it looks far worse knowing they didn't even offer Jake the money Tampa did and could have and then tried to sign a player that they didn't even talk to first about being open to an extension with them. That's some awful management.
I don’t blame him for going big. Fortune favors the build. Necas wasn’t going to sign from the sounds of it. He got 2 1sts and a very good kid at the end of it.

Necas is under contract for another season. Canes made it known they were trying to move him last season and that pissed of Necas so he only took a 2yr deal so he can leave after as it eats the RFA status. So on top of pissing off Necas last year and dealing him this year, they f***ed up the Guentzel trade and then didn't even talk to Rantanen's camp before making the trade and just assuming they'd get it right this time and had they asked they'd know he wasn't interested.

For me it's not a 1 trade f*** up, it's Guentzel And Rantanen.

He moved out 3 good prospects, a cap dump, a pick for a few months of Jake and got back a 5th. Then he moved a stud in Necas and a depth player for Rantanen who never wanted to play there and then gets back 2 firsts and a good young player.

The math ain't mathing for Tulsky to make it even remotely a save.

Remember they moved Necas, Drury, their 2nd and 3rd this year and their 4th next year. In addition to the 2nd rounder (Brunicke), Ponomarev, Lucius, Koivunen, and Bunting they also moved for Guentzel and losing him too.

That's criminal.

Damn Washington said in a Russian article that he's not re-signing with the Capitals next year and will go back to play in Russia after next season.

Seems like both Ovi and Malkin are retiring after next year, at least from the NHL. Cool to see them go out together at least.

One more season and McDavid's contract is up and his prime pissed away. Oil better get a goalie.

Toronto's moves were so underwhelming for a team that has so much riding on this season.

Yes. His boldness allowed him the fortune of getting an up close look at one of the most epic volcanic eruptions.
The bloke that he said that to, later coined the phrase go big or go home, he chose to go home, the go big part was about that absolute tit that wanted to see what it be like in a volcano.

Get what? With what cap? Lol. Even with the cap going up, Draisaitl's cap hit, Mcdavid's soon to be insane cap hit, and then Bouchard's will cripple their cap like usual.

Bouchard's is definitely looking at 9.5m+ for sure.
McDavid has never been about discounts,

Draisaitl's goes from 8.5 cap hit to 14m next year, McDavid is at 12.5m and definitely hitting 15-16m/yr. Also, goaltending isn't their only issue. That defense needs an upgrade too, also they haven't learned about depth scoring at all. They need cap to attract better scoring depth. Jeff Skinner and Arvidsson are fails.

The Kraken and Sabres know how to lose right…we’re blowing huge opportunities for a better draft pick…
As long as Sid is chasing records I don’t think we have too much hope to really collapse to the bottom. Kinda why it makes some sense to take what you can this year and try to load up in the offseason and until he retires in a few years.

It's a complete fallacy that this team cannot tank with Sid. It's that this team thus far refused to trim away whatever meat is hanging on the bone in order to tank because of Sid. It's been a refusal to commit either way, but hopefully that changed with Jake making this team's decision for them. Still think Rakell making it through the TDL was full on donkeybrains for both the missed assets, and the fact that his presence makes this team that much less likely to plummet down the stretch.

There’s like no meat on the bone, and to have Sid is to not make him play with AHL players

Toronto had a disastrous trade deadline. Trade two firsts and their second best prospect for two players who barely help them and managed to alienate Marner further. I would be shocked if they made it past round one, well more than usual.

I'm hoping, I hope Marner leaves this summer and they get nothing to show for it!!

Cody Glass - 5pts in 5 games with NJ.
15pts in 51 games for the Pens.

LOL...

Yohe - "Sullivan's coaching genius can't be matched by anyone, never ever ever!"
All due respect, I believe he is centering Bratt on the 2nd line. I'm not here to defend MS trust me lol, but if Glass was our 2nd line center we would be losing our shit!!
