Wilson acting like an absolute clown in the penalty box after what he did is an absolute embarrassment to the league.

At what point does the players ask the PA to stop going to bat for this guy? I know the PA is required to defend him because he's a member, but he's out there actively hurting other members of your union. At what point is the health of several players worth more than protecting the one player who is inflicting those injuries?

Him flexing in the penalty box was one of the lamest things I’ve seen an NHLer do. He clearly doesn’t get it, and is obviously never going to stop doing dangerous, reckless shit out there. Whether it’s the PA (though as you point out, that’s tough as they are there to protect and represent him), the league, someone has to do something.

Agreed. Wilson literally almost killed Panarin tonight, and I don't think a lot of people realize this. Wilson literally grabs a helmetless Panarin by his hair and slams him onto the ice. Fortunately, Panarin's shoulder took on most of the impact because the side of his head did make contact with the ice. That's a recipe for an epidural hematoma, which is fatal.

And somehow that rabid dog named Tom Wilson keeps playing. And the fanbase there keeps making excuses.

That’s one of the most dangerous things I’ve seen in a game in a long, long, time. If Panarin isn’t able to turn his body slightly, his head gets slammed to the ice, and he may not be alive today. Unreal. Knowing the DPS, Wilson will get a fine.

There’s a good article on The Athletic where three former Blue Jackets players spoke anonymously about why players don’t want to stay there.

All in all, it didn’t paint the best picture of Jarmo. Not that he’s a bad guy or anything, but he plays way too much hardball and star players never feel wanted there.
Look forward to reading. I suspected Jarmo’s approach was major factor.

Imagine still defending Tom Wilson. Also, the Caps (now deleted) tweet was gross. Used to have a soft spot for the Caps as long suffering Cup-less cousins, but those feelings are fading fast.

Edit-
And it seems just a 5k fine. I'm sure that will make him think twice the next time he has meltdown and goes out looking to hurt someone on the other team.

Can the NHL just skip the DOPS and go straight to the police at this point? I’m getting sick of hearing Tom Wilson’s name in relation to hockey.

Unless, of course, it’s something like “Tom Wilson has been indefinitely banned from hockey and any other sport with more direct contact than chess”.

I think Wilson is a complete pos and hope he winds up getting his just desserts but...in this case a wack at a guy on the bottom of a pile seems like hockey to me
worth a penalty and maybe a fine, but not particularly out of the norm
and two guys grappling and going down to the ice is just that
props to Panarin who went after a much larger player to defend his teammate
the fact that the much smaller guy went down awkwardly is pure physics and hopefully he has nothing long term
Wilson has done much worse things

The fact that Wilson only got a 5K fine is about the most disgraceful thing I’ve seen DoPS do. And they’ve made some absurd rulings in the past. Wilson is going to end someone’s career, or worse. It’s just a matter of time. And when it goes happen, I hope the league gets the absolute shit sued out of it, because they deserve it. Unbelievable.

I mean, he did punch a guy in the back of the head when he was pinned on the ice. Then took a guy down who, as you point out, Wilson outweighs by probably 50 pounds by his hair and is now out. He's the dirtiest player in the league and he very obviously doesn't respect anyone out there and could not care less what damage he inflicts on them. It would nice to see the league finally take a stance. But, I am sure they will wait for him to jump someone in the playoffs before suspending him a couple more games.

I really expected the Flyers to be a dark horse contender in the East. I don’t really understand how they fell apart. I thought they had several young talents. Are they so screwed they can’t bounce back next year?
Hard to win any games with a team SV% of .882 and a team GSAA of -39 through 52 games. That is absolutely catastrophic.

I get the Wilson hate as I am a card carrying member and he is a dirty pos, but two guys getting into it and winding up on the ice is a common occurrence, most fights end that way
Wilson did not go after Panarin, he went after Wilson
punching a guy who is down on the ice is a d*ck move but isn't particularly outside the hockey norms
worth a penalty and a fine, maybe a game or two, maybe he will get more b/c of who he is
what should have happened is he should have been given MUCH longer suspensions for the intent to injure cheap crap he has pulled over the years

Seriously when is the NHL gonna make an example of Wilson and kick him out of the league?
At this point, I wonder why his teammates aren’t trying to straighten him out (maybe they are?) or why the team isn’t disciplining him. Eventually someone is going be tired enough of his shit that they take a run at Backstrom, Oshie or Carlson. Maybe even Ovechkin. I guess he’s going to have to end someone’s career, or someone is going to have end one of his teammates careers, before his antics get taken seriously. He’s a scary dude, but more often than not he goes after smaller and/or skilled players instead of guys his own size. That’s why I have to scratch my head when I see guys like Chase coming to his defense - the guys he targets don’t jive with “the code” as I remember it.

If I am Washington’s coach, I would sit Wilson on Wednesday. Too much of a distraction. Everyone will be gunning for him and really every Cap.

If I am the coach of NYR, I sit all of the kids and put a bunch of grinders in the line up and tell them to finish their checks the entire game. Don’t care if it leads to a blow out, but send a message. Legal hits, but finish every check the entire game. No pulling up. Dump pucks in and go after their D.

Here is a conspiracy thought for you. Very few would like pay attention to game on Wednesday as NYR are out of the playoffs. How many fans are now going to turn the game on??????

Punching a defenseless player in the back of the head - especially a player who's already getting held down by two other teammates. I don't understand how no one has taken a flying elbow to Ovi or Backstrom at this point. I don't really want to see that happen, but behaviors don't change without consequences.

You would be a bad coach and should be fired.

Dumb.

Shit like Tom Wilson is why the league needs players like Tony Twist. It's clear as day the NHL won't do anything about him so it's left to the players.
