They got a 3rd round pick?

That's all they could get?

Unreal.

Theft.
Well clearly nobody is in a hurry to help them out given all the shenanigans of the expansion draft. And they were extremely limited in where they could move Schmidt given his partial NTC. To quite honest, I’m surprised they didn’t have to attach a pick to him to get the deal done. Vancouver had them that up against the ropes.

I watched Pietrangelo's media interviews with Vegas. He said the goal all along was to get something done with St. Louis, had multiple suitors but his site visit to Vegas clinched it for him and his family. but he made so many contradictory statements. I have no problem with a guy doing what's best for him and his family. First he was ‘blindsided’ buy the Krug signing and then he said today that he ‘wanted a challenge’ which meant maybe looking at another city. Petro and his agent aren't doing a very good job spinning this. Just own up to it

He said he was blind-sided by the Krug signing?

Oh no, a player is trying to be courteous to his old team and fans while also trying to endear himself to his new team with their fans.

Oh the absolute horror of a rational man doing what everyone else would do in the same situation.

There's an Petro interview on the Golden Knights Twitter. I think he might end up regretting his decision.

During his interview, you can tell how disappointed he was to not stay St. Louis Blues. He said that he was happy about Vegas, but his body language said differently. I thought It was interesting.

Maybe the reception from his new teammates wasn't as warm as he hoped.

"I think everybody agrees this is the best place place to play in the NHL right now..."

Debatable.

Good luck.

Gotta wonder what Petro's arrival is going to do to Vegas. The core of their success is their team chemistry from day 1. Kicking Stastny and Schmidt out for a guy that will likely cripple their franchise 5-7 years down the road will definitely affect that lockerroom. Believe it or not, their roster talent isn't as good as their success would suggest.

Vegas issue is that they robbed Peter to pay Paul.

To pay for Pientragelo, they lost Schmidt, Stastny, and they will have to make at least 1 maybe 2 more moves to get under the cap.

According to capfriendly, they have 12-7-2 and are over the cap by basically 1 million (990k and change)

Let me say this, the forwards don't impress nor does the depth at center unless Cody Glass matures real quick.

I think Vegas is a real contender in the West, but I have questions. They're weak down the middle (unless Glass takes a huge next step) and I've never been a fan of DeBoer. I think they'll make a run again, but I'd put Colorado or some of the Eastern teams (Flyers, Lightning) above them still.

Their center depth is worse than ours pre ror and I don't think lehner is a cup quality goaltender.

I didn't watch their series vs Dallas or Vancouver but word on the street is that it was a lack of offensive punch for their troubles and I can see why. 27 is not gonna help with that.

Plus they have aging people like patches who are gonna fall off. This contract is gonna be an anchor for them, probably sooner than alot of us think.
