Maroon was great in the OT for Tampa.

He's a playoff warrior.
I have to admit, he brings an element they sorely needed, and he has not been the liability I thought he might be. Blais’s physicality and hockey sense was supposed to make the loss irrelevant, and the jury was still out on Blais being able to fill that role. But now with Blais out I think the team will miss Maroon a lot.

Is there a better defensive pair than Jones-Werenski? Slavin-Hamilton is only one I think who comes close. Petro and Parayko as top 2 would be up there but they don’t play as pairing.

I'd bet the NHL might be wishing they opted to use two arenas in each bubble to stagger the games. Also would have helped for ice conditions too.

Scotiabank Center and the Marlies arena are both close by each other I know, so I'm sure that could have been possible.....

Not sure about for Edmonton unless the Oilers old arena is still in operation.

You can’t really delay a 9:30 pm start time. If they didn’t try to televise every game on the same channel, and out 2 games in prime time simultaneously, you could have a lot more time for ice care and accommodating OT.

Well I think more of the reason for the delays is because of the cleaning and ice maintenance procedures between games. For example last night in the CBJ game they mentioned on TV it's about a 45 minute process for cleaning the locker rooms and benches between games before the next teams can move in. And they have a separate process for ice, and changing dasher board ads. So the longer a game goes into OT pushes back those procedures, which in turn pushes back start times for later games in that arena.

Today Canes and Boston went to 2OT, that pushed the start time back an hour for the Caps and Isles game, and therefore will push back the start time of the Flyers vs Canadiens.

If they had used two arenas per bubble, so the Scotiabank Center and Coca-Cola Coliseum (Marlies Arena) in Toronto for example, the schedule for today could have had the Canes vs. Bruins at Scotiabank, Caps vs. Islanders at Coca-Cola, then Flyers vs. Canadiens back on Scotiabank. It would've helped both ice conditions, TV start times and allowed for better accommodations for OT games.

As the playoffs move to the second round, this will all become less of an issue with less teams and games.

It feels like we just have to grit out the first round.
Yeah, the ability to deliver the same product, even if it is via TV broadcast, going from two venues to four would have driven the cost of production WAY up, not to mention created additional vectors for potential virus exposure and causing the whole thing to come grinding to a halt. These schedule disruptions, which will be limited to the first round as you have pointed out, are a small price to pay to make sure we get to finish this tournament.

Let's go Coyotes!

Edit: Somehow 0-0 through 2 periods with the Yotes only having 7 shots.

Finally the Avs break through with 6 minutes left in the game. 2 goals back to back.

I feel a bit better about how we looked against the Avs after watching this game. We played one of our worst games against them and still took the Avs down to the wire.

if they yotes could reliably counter with offensive pressure, they'd be able to take out colorado. their defense can clearly do a decent job slowing them and frustrating them, but you can't grind out four wins that way.
