Then we just keep Fahlin for Dahlin.

The good-ish news is we only have to get past one of the NY teams (or Jersey if they fall) and we play them enough times to keep destiny in our own hands.......for now.

Caps did an excellent PR spin this offseason to take some pressure off the team. The caps made it sound like the team would be completely different and be fighting for the playoffs when it’s pretty much the same team. They lost Alzner Johansson and Williams. The pens lost Cullen Bonino Kunitz Daley Hainsey. As per usual Caps they are in their dominant regular season mode.

Caps will probably always be a good regular season team, but nothing more. They also lost their best Dman of the post season in Schmidt.

They've also been promoting from within, which is a good thing, they're fun to mock in the playoffs, but in the regular season, I'm actually shocked they are as good as they have been this season. Let's be honest here, no one thought they'd be playing this well with THAT roster.

This is the Caps Bottom 6:

Connolly-Eller-Wilson
Stephenson-Beagle-Chiasson

Connolly and Chiasson are former 1st & 2nd rounders that were cast offs around the time the Caps picked the up.

We could "have" this for our bottom 6:

Aston-Reese, Sheahan, Hornqvist
Simon, Rowney, Rust (inj)

But that 4C is pretty bad for us.

Rowney would do ok with those 2. Rust is fast and likes to carry the puck. Really good downlow. Simon’s got the skill to make plays and shoot. Rowney is the **** disturber to do the bashing and crashing. He creates pressure. Solid line defensively. Offensively ok for a 4th line depending if Simon can chip in a bit more.

With DiPauli back now, the Pens could have a hell of a fourth line if they wanted to...

DiPauli Blueger Reaves

Those two replace Rowney and Kuhn on the PK as well, so it's a mix of skill and speed replacing two plodders only in the lineup because they can PK...

Won't happen though unless injuries occur, but it's an example of what they could do simply using the farm.

Best we can hope for is a trade for a third pivot, and that bumps Rowney out of the lineup. Rust coming back would knock Kuhn out, assuming Sprong doesn't show too much flair...
