I can’t f***ing believe it Alexander Ovechkin is going to break Wayne Gretzky’s career goal record. The one record I did not expect to get broken.
Yeah and Gretzky's 215P in a single season will likely never be touched in the modern NHL. Closest in recent years was McDavid at 153P.Gretzky does still have 936 points more than #2 on the list, Jaromir Jagr.
936 points is the difference between #1 and #2... 936 points is a pretty darn good career by itself... our all-time points leader is Josi with 724.
Sidney Crosby is the closest active player to Gretzky in points... a mere 1,180 behind. Soooooo... if Crosby could keep up his career average of 1.24684 ppg, he'd only need 11 and a half more full seasons to catch Gretzky. He turns 38 this summer, so he'll be 49.5 when he catches him. IF he doesn't slow down or miss any time.
Crazy stuff. But if Phil Kessel can be the NHL's Iron Man, who's to say what will one day be possible.![]()
Crosby will likely retire #2 in points, about 900 behind Gretzky. The goals record didn't surprise me much but they will need to completely change something for anyone to ever get close to total points.
I mean if Gretzky had concentrated on just scoring goals or had stayed in Edmonton, Ovi probably wouldn't have ever gotten close.

I believe Kessel was usually among the top guys in physicals and he's not exactly a hitting type...or likely to receive them, so it's not really that surprising tbfCrazy stuff. But if Phil Kessel can be the NHL's Iron Man, who's to say what will one day be possible.![]()
Really fitting that it was the most classic Ovechkin goal of all time. Truly incredible that he’s been in the league 20 years and he is still unstoppable there.he just tied it. Holy f***ing shit.

Gave me flashbacks to the playoffs last yearI’ve been on vacation all week and just read about the Nucks beating the Stars after being down 3 in the final minute and winning in OT. Holy shit!!!Stars
That stinks. He has been such a warrior.Ekholm apparently done for the year for the Oilers. No Cup to Edmonton this year, either.
Apparently groin/core. Sports hernia maybe?Ekholm apparently done for the year for the Oilers. No Cup to Edmonton this year, either.
Gotta be pretty rough whatever it is, Ekholm is about as steady as it comes and hasn't missed much time in his career that I can remember.Apparently groin/core. Sports hernia maybe?
He's almost 35. Father Time remains undefeated.Gotta be pretty rough whatever it is, Ekholm is about as steady as it comes and hasn't missed much time in his career that I can remember.
I have to say, watching that game that Demidov kid sure looks like the Real Deal. I'm thinking the 3 teams picking after Celebrini are going to kick themselves a little over that one. He shouldn't have gone #5.I'm still at a loss for how it was missed by the on ice officials. The puck very visibly enters the net even though it doesn't come back out.
Habs fans are insufferable around these boards but they should have a decent team going forward. Sadly this will only embolden them to be more annoyingI have to say, watching that game that Demidov kid sure looks like the Real Deal. And as much as it might hurt to say it, there is some fun talent on that Montreal team right now? Hutson is fun to watch too.
You don't love to see it, given how Habs posters are around here. Good thing they got Reinbacher instead of Michkov, at least.![]()
