Around the NHL 2025 playoff edition

Honestly, he's almost too honest. To an idiotic fault.
Vancouver be like:

Wonder if we can get Demko with them retaining a bunch?

Only one year left. Always injured and didn’t play well this year, but could be helpful if he does play well and he’s gonna be on an expiring deal. If he could be next year’s Allen that would be sweet, but he can’t seem to not get hurt.

The Lankinen extension seems to signify they’re done with him. At least in the long term.

I thought he was great last night. He's still got some skill and can generate chances at even strength, can do what's required for almost any line. I hate them but respect the way the Canes operate.

I was pounding on the table for Hall to be brought back, nostalgia factor be damned, I thought he would've been a good fit with this roster regardless of the Jack injury and I think he would've relished the fact coming back to a former spot. Also would've used it as a trial run to see if you could extend him in the summer which is what the Canes just did lol

I would’ve liked to have seen what Hall-Hischier-Meier potentially looked like at that cap hit. But I get why they didn’t even try.

it’s kind of crazy that that’s his value right now honestly. good deal for the canes but man how he’s fallen. he’s still good but he’s a far cry from the mvp we had. mercer is making more than him now lol

For some reason I find it funny the day after they eliminate us they extend Hall.
Based on nothing other than suspicion the Canes wouldn't overreact to a single series, I'm guessing Hall really loved beating us and decided to sign the offer that was on the table.

Apparently Hall has a performance based no move. If he has under 35 points in year 2 year three becomes a 10 team no trade instead of no move.

I didn’t know you could do that, and that makes me madder at the full NMC and NTC clauses we have.

Rutherford really needs a gag order, but hey, I'll take it if Quinn gets here in two years.

The thing that Fitz needs to do now is absolutely nothing. Remember, never interrupt your enemy while he is making a mistake. I heard that Marek and Wyshynski had their own trade speculation for Quinn the other day, and both of their plans involved Bratt. That's stupid. They can pay a fraction of that if they wait long enough.

FWIW, I think Tocchet is a bad coach and part of the reason why CPetey has had a decline in scoring. Don't forget the talk about how Clayton Keller might never reach the heights he was thought to reach while Tocchet was his coach, and now he has an 80+ point season under his belt. At the same time, he isn't a total liability in Vancouver, they need consistency behind the bench (the next coach will be their fourth in four years), and, yeah, Quinn liked playing for him. I don't know what went on to make Tocch decide to leave in spite of the money, but if it was preventable, that reflects poorly on management.

Rutherford is so aggressively waiving the white flag that it makes me believe he thinks he’s being pushed into something.
they should be ripping it all down and tanking for mckenna in this draft hes been around the league long enough to know the cards hes dealt

thats tricky because if the team is looking to move on a player they can limit mins or scratch

That’s not going to happen. The only time the Canucks have tanked in recent memory was unintentionally, when they were so bad under Benning that they had a few consecutive years of top five or six draft picks. And even then, they whiffed on a couple of them (Virtanen and Juolevi).

I listen to a Canucks podcast that goes with the theory that deep down, this is still Benning’s team. And when I put those two picks into perspective, it kind of makes sense. Imagine where this team would be if they hadn’t screwed up those two picks but still got Quinn and CPetey.

That podcast also thinks they should go all in and make trades for pieces now, in a desperation move. Getting rid of guys like Lekkermaki and Willander, for instance (who now may not even come anyway). We’ll see. They seem closer to getting something to work than the Bruins, who also stubbornly refuse to rebuild but have f***all to work with.
sounds like the Utah team name will be Mammoth
I’m fine with that. European club naming conventions should stay in Europe. Shame on Don Garber for normalizing it in North America with the last 15 years of MLS club names.

Fitz has got to manifest Hamilton + Haula + 1st for Quinn energy. If you can envision it, you can achieve it. :naughty:
