Around the NHL 2024 25

I turned the Dallas Nucks game off after they scored to make it 4-2, went to bed thinking we were only 2 up on the Stars.

I was blown away to see what transpired after I switched it off.

Sad I didn't see it unfold but reality is, me turning off the TV caused the Canucks to come back. It was all me!!
Superstitions, they’ll either lead to historic greatness or fail and drive you batshit crazy along the way.

Believe me, I know. I have countless hockey related superstitions.

The average SV% in the NHL right now is .900 - the lowest it's been since 1995-96 when it was .898.

Just one season below league average is pretty crazy. I'm pretty sure he beat league average in the NAHL, NCAA and AHL in those years he played there as well.
when ppl say goaltenders are voodoo, it doesn't apply to helle. his consistency is unmatched. if the Jets don't win a cup it will be one of the bigger fumbles of a generational nhl talent.

Wild stuff happens in small samples to the best (and worst) goalies, though. And a small sample for a goalie can be 1000+ shots.

I see that Russian player Demidov being hyped up in Montreal Canadiens team. He will play for the first time with them. I saw 1 clip, when he undressed 2 skaters and the goalie with a slick moves.

Who is he comparable to the NHL now and before?

What is the difference vs. Carey Price MVP season. People are saying Price season was better. Honest question. I think it's pretty close but if Helly goes under 2.00 gaa and 0.925 svpct that is remarkable consider goalies now.

It;s an interesting comparison and honestly it's quite close relative to competition.

Price
66 GP - 5th in the league, Holtby leads with 73
44 Wins - 1st, next closest is Holtby/Rinne with 41
.933 SV % - 1st, next closest is Dubnyk with a .929
1.96 GAA - 1st, next closest is Dubnyk with a 2.07
9 Shutouts - tied for 2nd with Holtby, Fleury leads with 10
37 GSAA - 1st, next closest is Dubnyk with 24.
78 Adj GA - 1st, next closest is Dubnyk with 83.

Hellebuyck
61 GP - Tied for 1st with Vasi
45 Wins - 1st, next closest is Vasi with 37
.925 SV% - 1st, next closest is Kuemper/Stolarz with .922
1.99 GAA - 1st, next closest is Kuemper with 2.01
8 Shutouts - 1st, next closest is Vasi with 6
40 GSAA - 1st, next closest is Vasi with 35.
75 Adj GA - 1st, Next closest is Stolarz with 79

As far as dominance over peers Helle leads in every category. Price had a season for the ages as well but the average goalie was better. Scoring is a little higher league wide, but the average SV% is quite low. Yet both seasons only had one player scoring 50+ but this year it seems depth scoring is much higher. Lots of 30 goal scorers this season compared to 14/15. Only 15 players scored 30 or more goals in 14/15, this season 40 players scored 30 or more goals and many are still flirting with 30 to push that number even higher.

I think it's going to come down to the wire whether Helle gets the Hart votes, it seems a lot of the media is beginning to lean that way though. As long as he closes out the season in a good way he could split the votes.

Price had a save% of 0.933 when league average was 0.915.

Helle is at 0.924 when league average is 0.900.

Relative to league average Helle has been a bit better.
