Around the NHL 2024 25

This entire Dallas winning streak they have been playing dog shit hockey.
As lights out as Hellebuyck has been, I don't think there's ever been a game this season where Jets were outplayed so badly and faced a goalie that was awful, while Hellebuyck played fantastic. That has happened multiple times with Dallas where their goalie would play like prime Hasek while the opposing goalie decides that they want to be a vegetable for the night. Helle has won multiple goalie duels, but winning a goalie duel is far different than what Dallas was doing when winning games.

This entire Dallas winning streak they have been playing dog shit hockey.
Plus a buttery soft schedule, they couldn't have asked for an easier slate of opponents.

I think if we even finish these last 6 games at .500, Dallas would need to go 5-1 to win the division. That game coming up on the 10th will be a bit important

The Blues have won their last 12 games.
Here are the teams they beat...

Preds x 3
Avs x 2
Minny
Ducks
Canucks
Habs
Detroit
Pitt
Chicago

The Jets arfe 8-4-0 over their last 12 games.
Our losses were to Buffalo, LA, Utah and Vancouver.

Go Jets Go

895 !!!!

7:26 in the 2nd period against the islanders

Dang. What a moment. He can still flirt with 50 goals this year even after that leg injury.
You can really tell how a guy like Laine has modeled his game after Ovi. Float into an open spot like a silent assassin and let fly. It's incredible how often it works.

I often wonder why more players don't operate that way, and I think the simple answer is they could, but wouldn't score nearly as often. You need a lethally accurate shot to operate that way I think.

Need to be packing an elite shooting arsenal with a laser beam of a shot and efficiency of a sniper with elite offensive awareness to do it. What is more impressive about Ovi is he isn't just limping into 895 as an old timer who is well past his prime days of goal scoring and just managed to finally get there. Dude is 3rd in the league in scoring at 39 years old after just recovering from a broken leg. The speed expired long ago but the awareness and shot haven't gone anywhere.

Pretty amazing achievement for Ovi. Guy is 39 years old and he's scored 42 goals in 60 games this year.

Looking up some long time records and Gretzky had 894 goals, 1,963 assists for 2,857 points. He had more assists that anyone else of the greats (Howe, etc) has had in total points. Can't see those last two stat lines ever getting touched.

Some interesting little facts about the goal breaking record.

Gretz - 894 goals in 1487 games
Ovi - 895 goals in 1487 games

Gretzky scored his 894th goal on March 29th, 1999 at MSG against Wade Flaherty of the New York Islanders.

Ovechkin scores his 895th goal on April 6th, 2025 at UBS Arena against Ilya Sorokin of the New York Islanders.

Also 21 years ago on this day, April 6th, 2004 the Capitals won the 1st overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft Lottery to be able to draft Ovechkin 1st overall.

You can't write history any better than this.

That is how many games 99 played, not when he scored is 894th goal.
Dislike both of them to be honest.
