Around the NHL 2024 25

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Still don’t understand how the Oilers are considered true contenders when their depth is a joke. I understand they’re the best two players in the league, but it doesn’t cover their roster deficiencies.

I don’t think the Coilers will win with their current team, and wouldn’t be surprised if McDavid leaves.

I mean they did pretty well last year...

A Dallas win tonight and they’re only 4 points back. Those games against Vancouver and Buffalo have really put the heat on.

Now watch Jake Allen come in and join the likes of Reimer and Fedotov to absolutely goalie the Jets

Why not take it if you can get it?

More Dallas losses means the jets clinch sooner and players can rest/play a little less going into the playoffs.
Yeah I really don't get this all in worry about yourself attitude.

Yes, the Jets have to take care of their own business, both for the rest of the season for seeding and in the playoffs, HOWEVER, why wouldn't you want a few things to go your way to allow you to give your players a bit easier of a time?

The playoffs are an absolute meat grinder and if you can get a bit of relief here and there it can go a long way to ensure you're in the best shape possible in the later rounds.

Maybe the Flames can do something tomorrow night, if not this weekends games are must wins for the Jets
Jets need to win out this homestand. New Jersey shouldn't have a lot of fight sitting in a comfortable position. Jets are quicker. Canucks game is the last of their 6 game road trip, still without their top 2 centers. That's one where the Jets should have a clear advantage if they come out skating, and don't get out-goalied.

If Dallas keeps the deficit to within 4 points heading into April, good chance the game on the 10th is meaningful. Dallas has the easier schedule in April.

So let's go Flames, we want you in the playoffs...

I'd vote for giving the Capitals a bye to the finals and tell all the other teams to take a few months to think about whether they actually want to play NHL hockey. What unmitigated garbage the Eastern Conference is. The winner of the Atlantic division is barely going to crack 100 points, and the Devils and Senators look pretty safe to make the playoffs even though they're on pace to barely crack 90 points.

Weird that Philadelphia fired Torts now and not just wait until the end of the season in 2 weeks .:naughty:

“When you’re in this type of situation and you’re losing all the time, and there’s nothing at the end of the tunnel for you, there’s certainly going to be some frustration,” Tortorella said. “But, this falls on me. I’m not really interested in learning how to coach in this type of season, where we’re at right now.

That'll get you fired every time. Basically telling everyone you don't give a crap about trying to improve the team thru a trying time. Doesn't matter if you can affect change or not. You are the coach, you don't publicly throw in the towel.

Their depth is fine, and their top end is elite. If the Oilers had half-decent goaltending they'd be running away with it.

Buffalo next year?

I don't mind Torts but for a rebuild team he was a bit of an odd choice. Perhaps some of his coaching may pay dividends years later, who knows. But he striked me more of a coach to help get the most out of a competitive team vying for a PO run.
