There’s actually going to be a ceremony in real-time,” Johnston said. “I mean, I think there should be. This is a pretty special moment, a special goal. But they’re going to limit it to seven minutes. There will be a delay in whatever game when Ovechkin ultimately reaches this. It could be a big moment of a pretty big game, at least for one of the other teams. The Capitals have their playoff positioning already pretty much sewn up, so it’s not going to affect them to the same degree. So these are the kind of discussions and planning scenarios that are already going on.”
After the ceremony the opponent should challenge the goal

Dallas will surpass us. It’s just a matter of time. The entire hockey world has been focused on Dallas snd Colorado, but that’s not gonna happen.
I like that Arniel is making changes to give the team a spark. Ehlers with Lowry seems like a good idea to keep the great Dane from getting cheap shotted going on a tough road trip after this homestand, to keep him healthy. Jets still control their own destiny. I'm still not sure how well that Dallas defense will hold up, without Heiskanen, with a lot of games still to play. Pionk going down negated the Jets 1-2 advantage, somebody's going to have to step up. Ceci is +13 now in 19 games since acquired, in a top 4 role with Dallas.

I think both sides know it's not going to be an easy road through Colorado. It would be a real shame to have such a strong start to go out like a duck in the hunt.

So apparently Scheifele is soon to be an owner of a WHL franchise? Penticton Vees graduating from BCHL to WHL and Scheif is part owner.
Interesting news. My wife and I drove up to Penticton from Osoyoos today (over-wintering) to check out one of the cycling trails along the Naramata Bench (fabulous wines there). Penticton is certainly large enough to support a team. I wish them (Scheifele) well. On a bit of a side note. Osoyoos is the self-described "Cherry Capital of Canada" (great red wines, too); Oliver, between Osoyoos and Penticton is the (rigthly) self-proclaimed "Wine Capital of Canada" whereas Penticton has a major homeless issue and as the locals say, is the "Crack Capital of Canada".

I've spent many summers up in that area. I have family in Peachland and a childhood friend who lives in Kelowna so I have visited the area frequently. Absolutely beautiful country. Went through there a few summers ago and stopped at a mountain side rest area on the #3 just outside of Osoyoos because of the amazing view of the Okanagan Valley and man oh man I didn't know we could hit temperatures that high in this country. It was like 43° without so much as a slight breeze, we got out of the air conditioned car snapped a picture of the valley and got right back in. Felt like the air was being choked out of my lungs.

Penticton is certainly large enough to support a WHL team though and the Vee's have already been the among the most successful BCHL teams for awhile now. Regularly topping attendance charts for BCHL. I think a lot of communities in this country would describe themselves as having a drug problem.

It’s unfortunate but all it takes is two or three bad games and Dallas to win two or three games not to mention Dallas play Edmonton next without McDavid and dry. Tomorrow’s game could be the breaker.
Ya, but they still have only made up 2 points in the last 10 games. So, some of us just don’t like having a drink with Debbie Downer…… Predicting failure is such a cop out, but does set oneself up for an ego stroking “I told you so”. To each their own.

So change the name from Vee's to Crackheads! Nice 5000 seat arena in Penticton for a WHL team!

6 points in 12 games is a pretty big thing to overcome. Plus the Jets currently own the tiebreaker.

Dallas has a 6 game home winning streak. Luckily their next 4 are on the road. I think the final Jets game in Dallas is going to be meaningful.

If the Stars do catch the Jets they would likely have the tiebreaker.

Yeah, I think they have a western swing?

Those aren't easy for anyone... the Jets have dropped games on them that maybe they shouldn't have

Let the insanity start ... Caps sign Chychrun 8-years $72 million ... $9 million per year.
What is Quinn Hughes going to demand ... at least $12 Million.
Jets are going to have a problem signing Pionk and Ehlers this summer.

Salary cap going up the way some think will only serve big market teams and preferred destinations. Pionk they have a chance but Nik I fear is moving on.

The Jets play the 3 best home record teams in the NHL in Dallas, in LA and in Vegas their combined home record is 79-17-9 thats a .795 winning percentage.
If Jets can come out with a 1-1-1 record that would be great.
