Around the NHL 2024 25

Bettman thinks all the info like salaries etc. are to be guarded like nuclear launch codes. Until the NHL lets the public have this kind of info and more importantly injury info, the majority of North America will never take the league seriously.

But, more than salaries, IMO the NHL doesn't want the public to know that the teams that drive the NHL gate revenue the most ( the Canadian teams ) are the teams that make up most of the no-trade and no-move clauses.

I think if the NHL is intent (as we've seen) on partnering with sports betting companies then they should provide the fans with salary and contract data. Maybe not specifically who has which teams on limited NMC/NTC, or even centralized attendance figures... but at the very least it should offer what CapFriendly used to.

It doesn't sound like this is going to do a whole lot except consolidate info that's already out there.

But it is weird how the league is hostile to the idea that fans might be interested in all this stuff, since a team's cap and players' cap hits have huge implications. Why wouldn't we be interested in totally relevant information about the teams we follow?

After last night's win over the Canucks, which saw Brock Boeser score a bomb to with 4 seconds left to get the loser point, the Blues have officially taken over the #8 seed. Canucks have a game in hand, one point back.

Flames were gifted a comeback victory by some Johnny Kovacevic waiver like defense, and leaky goaltending by Markstrom, have 2 in hand, 2 points back.

But the Blues next 4 are Chicago, Nashville and Montreal at home and Nashville on the road., after earning their 4th straight victory. Good chance they stretch their lead on the competition.

At this point I'm hoping Blues catch the Wild, knock them back to us in the 1st round. Don't think they'd be an easy out for the Jets, with Parayko due back before the end of the season. Holloway and Broberg have been playing great for the Blues.

I have no fear of playing St. Louis or any other team vying for a wild card spot.
I feel like St. Louis would be a tough out for the Jets, defense they match up pretty well, with Parayko in there. Forwards, Thomas vs. Scheifele would be a battle, I'd take Schenn over Namestnikov, but not by a large margin. Their 3rd and 4th lines are greasy and grinding like ours. And Binnington vs. Hellebuyck, well that's 2-0 for Binnington so far. Psychologically that might be an advantage. Hellebuyck is letting in some Binnington like softies all of a sudden.

I'd love to beat them don't get me wrong, but I don't think it would be a romp.

I don't think the Wild are an easy out either. They have a tonne of guys out right now and will be getting quite a few of them back come playoff time including Kaprizov. Their D when healthy is very good at moving the puck and with Kaprizov in the lineup he can take over games nearly as well as anyone in the league.

With that being said provided we are healthy, rested and playing like we can I don't think there is any potential WC team in the West that can beat us over 7 games. Hopefully this recent stretch is just a blip and we can close out the season on a high note and be ready to fire on all cylinders in the playoffs.

I'm just of the opinion that if we can't beat a wild card team, then we don't deserve to go any further and I think we do have a team that can go further. I am not saying that we take them four games straight but I'm not sure that I would want us to take them four games straight either.

Kaprisoft is a wimp. He might last 2 playoff games.

Then isn't Ehlers and Connor the x factor? Blues don't have anyone who puts the puck in the net the way Connor does. Connor is 3rd in scoring if you looked at where the top scoring Blue player is, you got to scroll way, way down.

From 3rd to 18th, in Jordan Kyrou, with 29 on the year. Jake Neighbours is one goal ahead of Ehlers, 4 behind Vilardi. Bushnevich would be the x factor there, he's had a dog season, but he can score goals.

Dallas isn’t going to catch us for first. I think it’s safe now to make a thread/poll see which wild card team we would prefer to meet.
You don't want to give Dallas bulletin board material but the odds look very good and the best news is playoffs are less than a month away.
I got my secret weapon to use on Dallas anyways. The last two times I bet on the Stars to win ... they lost both times in OT.
