Really ought to start bringing in some older players with CTE to show the young guys what they're really fighting for. As a teenager or 20-something you think you're indestructible and that thought process is normal. Extremely shortsighted, but normal. Let them see their what their future is going to be after a few too many knocks to the head.

I also don't think the NHLPA will win a lawsuit if they ever bring one forward. Lawyers and judges being what they are, never say never, but I would think all you'd need to do is bring forth evidence of the NHLPA condoning these actions repeatedly through appeals to say 'nah, you guys have condoned the violence by supporting the offenders, you reap what you sow'.
Yup - I see direct lawsuits, for instance, if the PA manages to get Hartman's suspension reduced and then another player gets a brain injury from him, etc.

Bring it on. These groups should be protecting players.

It's so bizarre in a way

Let's say instead of a hockey players union, we were talking about electricians. If one electrician acted in a negligent manner (or worse, purposefully) on a job site and the actions injured a co-worker.... what would the IBEW do?

Honestly if Hartman was a Jet i would want him traded , it would be embarrassing to have him being a Winnipeg Jet .
I feel so fortunate we haven't really had a player like this. Sure, we've had Peluso, and Byfuglien - who both had propensity for violence, but I never felt either of those guys had intent to injure.

We've never had a pure rat and I'm thankful for that

Brandon Lemieux, but we got him on the first train outta town the instant someone was willing to spring for the ticket.

Peluso was definitely operating honorably within the Code. Buff took a few cheap shots...but as Russo would say, that's the other guy's fault for making Buff mad!
