make it longer please

Of course the PA sides with Hartman, fights an appeal for the offender, and hangs Stutzle out to dry. Where is the PA to protect Stutzle from the assault.

Would love if they came back with 15 instead of 10.

Can Tim appeal the appeal?

Reapeat repeat offender, vicious non-hockey play with clear intent to injure -- wha's to appeal?

- Your Honours, we'd like to day to introduce in this Court a more nuanced explanation of our novel "Grab a helmet and beat its owner's head into the ice to regain my balance after a trip" defence. We would like to call a team of experts, internationally renowned for their pioneering work on "Accidental Falls Resembling Barfight Moves..."

- The place -- a faceoff circle. The time -- even as the game was lost. The victim, one R. Hartman, who, afflicted by a sudden dizzy spell and distinct sensation of being tripped, held onto the one safe port in this particular storm, the helmeted melon of one T. Stutzle... Clearly this was Post-traumatic Tripping Disorder, occasioned by that time when that guy did that thing to that other guy. Payback, M'luds, was the last thing on his mind...

If a player is injured, he still gets paid. If he's suspended, he doesn't. So they always fight suspensions even if they're dangerous, intent-to-injure bs like this.

That's certainly how they act. It seems pretty short-sighted. If I was a player, I'd prefer the possibility of losing some salary if I did some super dirty crap, than to suffer life altering and career-ending injuries because my association didn't watch out for me.

It's actually just kinda how unions work. Hartman asked them to grieve this decision. He pays his dues. They have to do it.

For sure. But unions also play a role in advocating for workplace safety. They could push for rules that make the NHL safer.
Yeah hockey's a bit weird because it's a competitive sport. But if you slapped a co-worker in a union job and got suspended, the union would grieve that for you (and probably complain about the employer not preventing it too).

Makes you wonder about the level of intelligence on the NHLPA, they looking out for their membership or the Wild?
Lol guess who the Wild's reps are? Dirty and Dirtier!

Edit: you'll never guess who the Capitals rep is. Tom Wilson. It's starting to make more sense...

Yeah Crosby is one of the greatest of all time. Great Player , Great Ambassador.
Not greedy with max contract.

Super clutch, gives everything that he gots.

He should be inside TOP 5-8

His offense you almost never hear it, but when you look at the stars he is up there with the best of them.

Imagine him in Montreal and Torontor for a career.

Nah he wouldn’t be a macho dumb hockey player if he didn’t man up here and remain silent. If you want to be part of the players they seem to have a weird code on this topic.

You gotta wonder who sets the agenda for the NHLPA. Is this what the players actually want?

I do think it is in a weird sort of macho way. No matter what they are all enemies against the owners/league and they will try to push back against stolen money aka suspensions fines. That is the collective fight that they rally around and to capture the mood I will say it…… I don’t think you want to be a p***y in the room full of players complaining about players running players. Its just a hockey player mentality.

Seems like a decent comparable to Slamberg.

Was just going to say that.

Agreed. But we know Bettman will uphold it and then it will go to an arbitrator. This is really about if the arbitrator will give him some cash back.

But doesn't all this money go to the players assistance fund, so it stays with the players 🤷

Really ought to start bringing in some older players with CTE to show the young guys what they're really fighting for. As a teenager or 20-something you think you're indestructible and that thought process is normal. Extremely shortsighted, but normal. Let them see their what their future is going to be after a few too many knocks to the head.

I also don't think the NHLPA will win a lawsuit if they ever bring one forward. Lawyers and judges being what they are, never say never, but I would think all you'd need to do is bring forth evidence of the NHLPA condoning these actions repeatedly through appeals to say 'nah, you guys have condoned the violence by supporting the offenders, you reap what you sow'.

The NHL offered them a job, and IMO it has always been assumed they just understand the risks that come with it, and by playing in the league they assume those risks.

Seeing lawsuits flying around would be interesting. I'm pretty sure that NO NHL player in the history of the NHL was ever given a piece of paper to sign that says they agree to the "risks" ( however defined ) that come with the job.

IMO I don't think the NHL's lawyers would have a hard time proving the players all know the risks and accept them.

I am not sure how its directed but if its to the players assistance fund that makes it all even more of a mockery.

The NHLPA is always going to appeal suspensions for their players because it's costing them money. Short term gain for these players.

I do think it's a bad idea in the long term. One day, there will be a lengthy court battle about CTE, and it's a hard thing to argue that you were not partly culpable when the NHL "tried" to crack down on headshots only to be met with the players' union appealing suspensions on behalf of the players doling out head trauma time and time again.

Did we get any word on why this is Stutzle's fault from Russo yet?
