I still don't get how you can't use the name Yeti because of TM, but you can somehow take everything from the Winnipeg Ice, from jersey colours to emblem.

I was wondering why they looked so familiar. Good catch on the Winnipeg Ice. My guess is they would have had to buy the trademark for the logo. If so then they are being really lazy on their design.

Ottawa is the only Canadian team that i have no animosity towards lol
Seems right.

Toronto - 1967. Plus my dad forced me to wear the jersey as a kid. TSN. Fanbase (I'm certain the same is said about us). Planning a parade each September. Or is it August.

Montreal - didn't used to hate them, was more of a Habs fan as a kid than Leafs fan. But the Scheifele hit and the PLD scenario left such a bad taste of just how classless many are.

Calgary - Jamie Macoun - rot in hell.

Edmonton - It was Gretzky's fault (great hockey player, but wasted so many very good Jets teams). Gifted so many #1 picks.

Vancouver - never did like them, going back to the 70s when we had a kid move from Vancouver that was so obnoxious. The riot didn't do anything to help me like them.

They had Ehlers on the first pp unit for the first quarter of last year and he didn't fit all that well.

It's not just that he's there but that they tailored a role specifically for him which has allowed him to excel.

Yup, Pp 2 doesn't have near the skill level of pp 1 so it would make little sense to have it play similarly. They don't have the talent to pull off what pp1 does. But they do have a big point shot and two good net front pieces. They also have a quality pp hb qb that can open that lane up.
He played on pp2 all of 2023-24

Agreed with all...

My hatred for Vacouver stems from the Peca hit on Selanne and the ensuing bloodbath games

Or they just finally added Ehlers. Could be that.
I think they've got everyone in their own wheelhouse, including Ehlers (who's previously been a bit miscast). Optimized!

They've activated more scoring options and will go with what's available (last year they seemed to predominantly try to funnel the puck to Connor for a one-timer).

They've improved entries.

They're also riding a tremendous hot streak.

Add it all up and you've got a GOAT powerplay - better than the 70s Habs and 80s Islanders and Oilers when league average SV% was in the .880s and .890s and parity was low.

They also treated the Moose like dogshit when it was there farm team. There was a season(cant remember which one) where the Moose were a legit Calder Cup team and Vancouver called up a bunch of the best Moose players near the end of season to sit in the pressbox instead of helping the Moose in the playoffs and they lost to Hershey IIRC.

How many games do they have to play before it is an excellent PP and not a hot streak?
It's an excellent powerplay now. To be the GOAT they'll have to keep their current pace up for the rest of the season. They could fall off a bit and still be a Top 10 powerplay of all time, though (current #10 is the 77-78 Rangers at 28.8%).

Best news of the week! We need a gif of MinnesotaMikeRusso's world exploding.

I understand that he's been crap this year -- 17 pts in 48 gp -- but 10 games looks good on him for such a pointless, vicious move off the faceoff to a totally unsuspecting player -- and 10 games now should mean 15 next time, and so on, and so on...

They'll appeal, I guess. But still.

Which is how it's supposed to work. It's a development team winning isn't the goal developing players for the NHL team is. Van wasn't very happy with Chipman he's mentioned it in the past, because they felt he was playing AHL vets over to prospects that's not the farm teams job. Now that he has an NHL team he sees it. It was a few years back he spoke of this.

That's why I was never into the Moose it's a development League.

How does sitting in the pressbox help their development as opposed to playing deep in the playoffs in the AHL? A lot of times you will see NHL teams send down fringe guys to help their farm team in the playoffs if the players arnt needed with the big club. Vancouver did the opposite. It was a douchy move since the players were never going to see ice time and the Moose had a legit chance at the Calder Cup.

These are so….bush league

They remind me a lot about the PWHL logos. Actually think the Montreal and Toronto PWHL logos are actually quite a bit better. The Utah logos are shocking. How did the Outlaws logo make it to the public list? Unbelievable, looks straight out of some stock logo database for custom t-shirts or Create a Team mode in some videogame.
