Well they definitely became more European, and have the market on Petterssons. It will be interesting now to see if Calgary makes a move for defense, to compete.
I know when I go to the Jets game here in Vancouver the old timers always tell me how they like the Jets and say the Canucks will never win because they have too many Swedes.

Canucks have had some good ones over the years. Matthias Ohlund was probably my favourite. And it definitely seems to be a strategy of theirs to add more, through the draft, and now through trades.

I just find it odd that you have a coach like Tocchet who likes gritty hockey, and the Canucks aren't really built to be gritty, less so after these trades too. Seems like sooner or later it will come to be a problem.

Maybe its time for the western teams to tell Toronto to stick their special treatment up their azz.
Connor McDavid on Leafs visiting Edmonton: "We get the 5 o’clock start time ... They come into our building & we got to change our schedule around, but it is what it is"

It's not going to change. Rogers owns Leafs. Rogers owns HNIC. #1 target audience is GTA. Same thing happens when they play Vancouver.

I just hope to God the Jets playoff schedule doesn't fall on the same days as the Leafs, or all the starts will be 8:30/9pm. Unless it's an afternoon weekend game.

It’s just business.

Odd day for Vancouver. I think we found with PLD that even though he was a valuable asset (2 centre), him not wanting to be here trumped all. JT Miller at his best is heavy nasty 100 point centre and you can’t replace that. Last year they were up 3-2 against Edmonton and almost went to the West final. Fast forward until today and losing guys like Miller and Zdarov have taken most of the toughness out of that line up.

I feel like they took a big step back yesterday but what can you do I guess. When ever I see these fire sales it makes me respect what Chevy has pulled off with a gun to his head even more.

We haven't had much success in the playoffs YET but it looks like we are going to make the playoffs for the 12th time in 14 years being back in Winnipeg. Considering the constraints Chevy is under just being in Winnipeg i think that's a pretty decent record.:thumbu:
