I was a bit tipsy when I posted last night (Christmas party) so I was a touch harsh.

The issue is he never owns it. He missed half the games in Columbus, and mailed it in on way too many nights when he was there. “He” was a huge part of the problem that he was complaining about. The players and org supported him in his time of need and he rewards them by throwing the all under the bus in a rando interview on his return to the city. Why not have a shred of class, be humble, and thank them?

Instead Pate does the full WWE heel turn….. just………..well……………just because
The way I read it was Jet was calling Patty an idiot, not you. Which I fully endorse, Patty is a head case.

No you pretty well nailed it with that post, Patrik Laine is the poster child for being a malcontent.

Laine seem to be a very emotionally affected character. When things are good, they are REAL good and he seems to be on top of the world and the low times seem even lower as they actually were compared to the high times he's experiencing. His up and down movements mentally show a pattern by now of someone that has, no surprise here as that is why he entered the NHLPA program, regular struggles with his well-being.

From an objective thinking POV, it was way too early and overall completely unnecessary to say these things about CBJ while not even having played half a season with Montreal. It was purely emotionally driven on a huge high after his last games and goals. But next thing you know, something goes wrong, that high is interrupted out of nowhere and depending on how "bad" this interruption is, it could destroy everything good there was before. I personally really, really hope for him he has his own sports psychologist he gets to see whenever he wants by now.

You can see the pattern of behavior of a depressed person from a mile away. That is the reason why his career seems like the most craziest rollercoaster ride. You get half a season of him being one of the best goalscorers in the league and then you get half a season of him struggling to be part of something positive even, let alone being an elite goalscorer.

If things are good, they are REAL good. If things are bad, they can get REAL bad.
I think Laine has real mental health issues he's only starting to realize. He's taken a bit of, but not enough, ownership of it. He also still hasn't achieved a level of maturity yet - he probably should have by now, given the focus of the media and the exposure he's likely had to training, but he's hardly the first late-20 something that hasn't yet realized that while he thinks he knows everything, he actually knows remarkably little.

Tough to watch him grind an axe that probably only he perceives.
Always wanted him to do well.
I’m thinking that losing his dad has probably made a difference in his headspace.
Hopefully he will get some guidance in Montreal.

it’s like when my world gets so small that I’m the only one in it, everyone else is getting in my way. Maybe someday we’ll be friends trying to help each other accomplish our goals.

I’ve been on both sides of that spectrum and I’ve watched people build themselves a hell on earth scenario with no friends, and then turn it back around over the years, and I’ve watched friends who were surrounded with help and care push it away until they felt like no one cared.

Disposition says a lot about us and can change us in an instant.

Merry Christmas friends!

Lalonde never screamed HC to me but that's a hell of a Christmas present, McLellan is just another recycled coach doesn't move the needle for neither. Wings have some nice pieces but they need a few more before they can consistently compete.
Pretty cold but mcclellan will transform that team - that being said yzermans latest moves look pressured by ownership to get a winning team... but they never sign a goalie

Boxing Day morning the team announces this. Makes you wonder when they made up their minds to ice Lalonde and when they told him. I'm a small business owner and hate to fire anyone, but to do it between Dec 15 and Jan 5 really sucks.

Hockey is always a business but its results are measured day to day and game to game. You can't keep anyone in a manger's position for an extra week or two of kindness.

He won't need to cancel family Christmas. He will get paid till the end of his contract. NHL head coaches don't make subsistence salaries.
