Around the NHL: 2024-25 Season, Are You Not Entertained?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Why would I say the same thing about Dahlin? He’s an elite player and will be successful no matter where he goes.

Cozens has baggage and hockey IQ issues. He’s the type of player that will need the right fit to succeed and it wasn’t here (barring a total clean sweep of the front office, coaching staff and a lot of the players allowing a reimagining of his role). Norris wasn’t some huge return for him, and any other GM could have beaten that offer if he was so good.
so essentially instead of changing the coaches and management who won't help the team we trade the players to teams that know how to coach them properly and you are happy...seems right this is why I was always against trading Cozens in the first place but at least we got a center back but somehow we always throw away a pretty solid 2nd in a deal that had no business being added in like wtf is Adams doing?

I read it in the summer that Adams offered Savoie for Drury and Canes it was not interesting.
Me too.

I’d bet the Avs will be more receptive. Ruff clearly wants Drury and the Avs don’t have a lot in the way of futures. The cap won’t be an issue but they’ve got 6 spots to fill next season, nothing rounds 1-3 for the 2026 draft, and not many RFAs contributing who that can get on short deals.

It shouldn’t be real hard to get Drury. He’s the Avs 4C most nights and he’s worth more to Buffalo than Colorado.

I think now McLeod is just our Drury and they won't try to get Drury again.

I’d bet Jack Drury was the trade target this off-season with Carolina, using Savoie.

I’d also bet Adams talks to Colorado this off-season to acquire Drury.

Yep and probably though I don’t know what Colorado wants now.

Matt was on the block for a while - someone had to want him for a deal to get done.

Ruff wants him for his character and leadership. They take it and move someone to wing, even if it’s Drury himself.
Do you think he would be viewed the same way if his name was Jack Smith? Maybe I'm wrong but I look at his NHL resume and don't think so. And I'm not opposed to acquiring him for the right price but if they bring him in thinking he is his uncle (which is the vibe I'm getting) that's probably not going to end well. I will say it would be of some comedic value given how much contempt Chris still has for this city and organization so for that reason alone I'd be fine with trading for him.

Jack isn’t as talented as Chris but I think Ruff is looking to replace passengers with engaged hockey players. Drury is a solid bottom 6 forward. He can also slide up the roster in a pinch, has center/wing versatility, and can play in any situation. He also has leadership qualities.

With the state of the roster, I’m sure Ruff is looking for more players like that. His last name probably makes him more of a sure thing for Ruff. I don’t think Chris harbors any ill for Ruff, and the the ownership is different.

Seems like an easy fit for a team needing more engagement and players willing to work.

For people that wanna check out prospects. Free WHL hockey, no matter where you are.

I won't mention to them that Telus used to do all the Q games for free 15 years ago. But that is good news.
