The first 2-3 weeks of every season is completely sloppy hockey across the league.

Leagues need to start looking into a longer pre-season with time in between for coaching and development. Exhibition games that have built-in scenarios and real game experience.

Using his body to protect the puck, stopping and going, gaining separation, and then wiring it from from the faceoff dot on his strong-side. That's not like VO.

VO absolutely has had shifts like that before. Problem is, he has like 10 shifts of those per year.

I guess they have something called 1 goal view in the new Utah arena. The tickets are sold at a discounted price in the endzone where the goal nearest to you is literally not viewable because the overhang of the upper deck blocks of the view of the nearest goal.

Sounds like they are gonna fix it in the offseason though.

Amazing how close this looks to how Greenway slid into the boards last night. Glad Jordan didn't suffer a similar fate. Tough break for the Panthers, literally.

I doubt it.

The Senators defence last year was atrocious and their defensive zone play was poor. Their goaltending was not good, but most advanced stats show that their defensive coverage, crease defending, and tendency to giveaway the puck was within the bottom in the league.

The eye test backs this up too. I've always been underwhelmed with Chabot and Sanderson. I would not be comfortable as a fan of them heading into the season with that D corps.

What advanced metrics? Advanced metrics last year said that the sens were actually better than Boston and Buffalo in xGA.

First of all, I didn't say the Sabres were better.

Secondly, they were in the bottom portion of the league in giveaways in the dzone, rebound goals against, rebound shots against, high danger shots against.
