Almost feels like they'd rather have Askarov play behind a decent AHL team rather than have him potentially lose his confidence behind a bad NHL defense this season.
But then you've also got the argument that the NHL is more predictable and therefore easier in some aspects for goalies. Of course that assumes some base level of competence on your defense, which when your leading defenseman in ice time is Cody Ceci, is probably not great.

Stan was or is a Rangers fan. I don't know how many times he's publicly admitted, but I've long since thought he was a Rangers fan, there's been clues for a long time now. Although people have said they thought he was an Islanders fan.

His Rangers posts recently actually do come off as a very jaded fan who has had enough, and not so much a guy that hates the Rangers and is glad they're currently they're in the toilet.

I remember him very smugly attacking Tuukka Rask on twitter during that 2013 playoff series, which I think was won by the Bruins in 5 games and led to Torts being fired at the conclusion of the series. Rask slipped and fell during what I think was the lone game the Rangers won in that series and Stan was really ripping him for that.
I thought he grew up a Leafs fan, for some reason I remember hearing that somewhere, even though he's a New Yorker.

Maybe an intern is doing the physical posting, but all of us have read and watched Stan long enough to know that is his actual thoughts. Piggy Iggy is pure Stan.

Exactly. I recall a couple of years back through that Twitter account that Stan was hiring for an intern like position. Who knew it was to establish an online troll presence.

I recall the same, I think he mentioned that on occasion during his Matt and the Maven segments.

I wouldn't be shocked if Askarov was up full time after the trade deadline. Whether or not they can actually trade one (or both) of Georgiev/Vanecek might be easier said than done. Sharks already used up its three retention spots (Burns/Karlsson/Hertl). Getting a third team to eat some salary would probably negate the return for a backup goalie.

That could be true. I haven’t heard that, but you could be right.

It had to have been really hard to follow the Leafs or any out of town team from New York in the 1930s/1940s though.
