He'd be a Tatar replacement. They really need a 4C more Han anything.
Agree on the 4C, but there's not one on waivers. And, Kapanen is a cheap replacement level fourth line player - which is something the Devils don't have right now.

Kapanen would slot at right wing, Tatar can play left wing. Cotter and Mercer can play center. I know neither are great at it. But, you at least have some additional options with Kapanen in the fold.

apparently allergic to grinding it out
Yeah - that is the issue. But, he had some promise at one point. Keefe had him in Toronto. Maybe he'll have an opinion.

I don’t think the Caps are winning on superior talent so much as great coaching and buy in. Coaching and buy in can go a long way. Look at Torts in Philly. A couple of seasons he kept that team respectable for a good long while. Same for the Canes. They squeeze 101% out of every player. Really impressive.
Nah bro, Panthers fans told me it's only November.

Kapanen atleast used to be great skater but has no work ethic unfortunately. I was surprised he got another contract.
I put him in more or less the same category as a Roslovic. You never know where a player like that might find chemistry. If Keefe likes him for the minimal cap hit it wouldn't be a catastrophe. They can always waive him and send him down once guys start returning or if a 4C does become available. If they had a bit center to put in the middle Tatar and Kapanen on the wings would not be terrible if they would hold their own defensively.

I just hope they don’t have the coaching bump. They were a bad team last year, but it just didn’t show up in their record. And no one knew about it. It was the best kept secret in the league last year.
Nailed it. It was a one line team, now with Marchand instantly aging out, they are a one player team.

The ownership and GM/President are the problem there.

Assuming they will go the cheap/redemption route again and get Quenneville or some other damaged goods so they can save a buck.

They’re probably done with Sweeney after this year too if I had to guess.

Not sure about Seabass.

Sweeney has been there 10 years this summer. It’s been a decent run. One finals trip, but I don’t think there’s any reason to keep him around.

I don't see why the Bruins would fire Sweeney unless they are committed to a full rebuild and I do not know why they would commit to that. They should keep him around until they are willing to do that, otherwise you end up in the spot the Penguins are in now.
