I heard Chytil was out yesterday but didn’t know Miller was the one who took him out until today.

He's had some significant concussions and he needs to err on the side of caution. The Rangers can live without him for a week or two if need be. He's a pretty good third liner and probably borderline middle six but he is already at significant injury risk.

He’s been fantastic this year and is huge loss for them. The “Kids Line” had 11 GF and 0 GA and great advanced stats in 14 GP.

I don't even dislike Nashville as a franchise in the least.

But I'm kind of sadistically enjoying how bad they've been this year. I'm not sure what their fans thought, but the media was pumping them as STANLEY CUP CONTENDERS! for their offseason and praising Trotz for that mega UFA splurge.

And they've fallen flat on their face. It reminds me of the Rangers right before the lockout. And all the guys they picked up are so old that they would have already been eligible for UFA several years ago even in the pre-lockout 31 years old for UFA era.

Well, Skjei is maybe a year younger than that.

It's pretty hilarious. I really don't see much significant talent under 30 years old over there. Forsberg is 30, Saros is just barely under it.

Nyquist, Schenn (YES! Luke Schenn is ACTUALLY STILL in the NHL!) Josi, Stamkos, Marchessault, O'Reilly, all these guys are all OLD. They're not all bad, but they're all closer to 35 than anything and some of them got some really high miles. Feels like O'Reilly is closer to 37 than 34.

I'm glad we didn't sign either one of those two old forwards they did this summer.

Pretty wild, haven't really actively watched him play, so it's hard to be surprised, but what a ride his career has been.
Bring him home Fitz!:sarcasm:

I feel bad for him at this point, even though he turned heel on us at the end with his comments during that one home game about booing fans, and then the ear cupping motion when he scored a goal the next game.

Probably mostly due to injuries, he was injured almost the entire season last year. He got hurt early on and never came back until this year.

He was also never as good as the MVP year.

We dodged a bullet, to put it mildly. We were talking about giving him a $10 million a year deal for 8 years, which would still have 3 more years on it after this.

I cannot imagine Taylor Hall as the highest paid player on the team right now. And there'd definitely be fewer guys we have now to make room for the difference in what we're paying him. First of all, no Timo on the team. That's crossed right off. And even if we eventually got him then we would have never signed Dougie at all. What if we didn't re-sign Bratt because we had him?

Go mess around with the cap sites and see who you have to take away to get him his $10 million.

I had to look up his current season numbers. 2 goals 6 points in 17 games.

Hall looked awful in the one game I saw him in earlier this season. He's lost his speed and can't really do a whole lot without it. Sadly this seems to have been sort of inevitable - the way in which he fearlessly crossed the blueline and went into traffic seemed destined to result in knee injuries at some point.

The Capitals killed Vegas and Carolina continued red hot against St. Louis tonight. Both are smoking. With the Rangers also in the metro we have our work cut out for us. One of these four teams is going to have to look for the wild card. But right now these clubs are no flukes. Carolina has scored 4 or 5 goals practically every game and are scoring off the rush and not just the cycle. Washington is getting top flight goal tending and Ovrchkin is tied for the league lead in scoring. We get both teams coming up.

Of course the capitals win again. Team didn't have to rebuild what so ever and got better.

Yea, this team will have two losses coming up and be at the bottom of the standings in regards to teams fighting for a playoff spot.

I don’t think the Caps are winning on superior talent so much as great coaching and buy in. Coaching and buy in can go a long way. Look at Torts in Philly. A couple of seasons he kept that team respectable for a good long while. Same for the Canes. They squeeze 101% out of every player. Really impressive.

yeah with the way the metro is shaping up, i really am just gunning for that 1st wild card spot. whoever is 2nd and 3rd in the metro is gonna get the shit end of the deal cuz of them having to play each other.

i can see Caps and rangers as a first round matchup with both or one of them having more points than the 1st place atlantic team.

at this point we’re not gonna be chasing Canes caps or rangers. it’s gonna be teams like ottawa, tampa, boston, those atlantic teams and probably the islanders from their unbelievable amount of OT points

Not really that much difference between the 2-3 and the 1-4 at this point….unless of course the Panthers or Leafs actually get top record in the East so the first Wild Card gets booted into the opposite bracket. Tbh I don’t even know if a Panthers-Leafs-Lightning path would be easier than a Hurricanes-Rangers-Capitals one though. It would just give us less overt angst.

i think i would just rather play any other team besides the Canes in the first round. we rly do not match up well against that god forsaken team.

they look like the real deal this year

They do this every year. The only thing I can say is that they will have Kotchekov as their starter and that can make a difference compared to their last 5 or 6 playoff appearances. He has a great GAA but a mediocre SV% so it's not like he has been elite this year. That team seems to prop just about any goalie up they have had since Brind'Amour took over. Although it seems their offense is the problem for them in the 2nd and occasional 3rd round when they make it.

They are like the Winnipeg Jets where they are a good regular season team but can't really seem to get far in the playoffs. This year both teams are hot and things might be different but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah the last few years they’ve lost some really good d-men and their replacements have mot been equivalents. Combine that with unproven goalies and I’m not buying into the idea that they are somehow gonna go farther this year than they have in the past, even though ironically the thing that has held them back the most in previous playoffs (offense) appears better this year.

I wonder how that team performs in an alternate universe where Brindamour is not their coach.
