Wow. That seems excessive? That's basically 10% of his salary.

What This Means for You:
Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.
In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerRight - the social part is under-appreciated. Everyone focuses on the travel and cost - which are real. But, it's also a time that you get to spend with your kid(s) and where the kids get to hang with each other. It can be a great experience - for parents and kids. The costs are a pain - and I don't like any need to get on an airplane - but, there are definitely benefits. The whole thing is a money making industry. If you have kids that are good at a sport it will be difficult to keep them away from this stuff. Especially boys. It’s a whole social thing. My kids all enjoyed it.
For my boys they had numerous friends play on their teams and they got to compete against kids who did play in college. My oldest will always have a "what if". He played against a kid that started at FOGO with Air Force and was 50/50 with him at that kid's home field on a super hot Sunday in a final when our kids just wanted to get in the car and drive home. I know he's quietly proud of that and for better or worse that doesn't happen if he isn't participating. The primary draw was always the hotel with the friends. Get there on Friday night and they hand out uniforms and the kids go room to room and someone always brings the xbox and they all pile in to play and rip on each other. The coaches come in to tell them lineups and opponents and expections. They pretend to listen and then go back to playing. Three games Saturday. At the field all day. In Texas, Georgia, and Florida. Maybe North Carolina. Always sweltering and always insanely humid. Back to the hotel after the third game and an hour to shower and then meet in the lobby. Find someplace for dinner. Then back to the hotel. The kids run around and hang out in various rooms. The coaches try to corral them and get them to get in bed since Sunday are playoffs. Sunday morning get up and get to the field and it's win or go home. After the last game win or lose they linger and head out about an hour after the last game. it was way too expensive and way too time consuming but as a dad that's how it works. I always liked at least some of the other parents to it wasn't hard to spend time with them.Right - the social part is under-appreciated. Everyone focuses on the travel and cost - which are real. It happens sometimes.
I think he will sign something that ends when Jack's deal ends.I just don't see Luke Hughes agreeing to 8 years. He's and his family can see where this is going if he signs a bridge.
new realities of the new market. He understands his role and situation. The average defender shoots 5.5%. Chychrun is shooting 11.5%. I'm sure that percentage will not at all normalize. I'm not sure Chychrun is a $9 mil per defender but he's not old so it will probably be fine for most of the contract.

late to discuss this but i think that chychrun deal is bad.
Not terrible or anything, but 9M is a lot of a dude who has historically never been healthy, is in the middle of a (probable) career year, and may not even be the 2nd best defenseman on his team. His xG numbers are Not Particularly Good at 5 on 5. He's young, so at least you're avoiding the worst of the aging curve, but I wouldn't have signed that deal.
Real "we're playing well, don't touch ANYTHING" vibe
He also drinks raw milk so he might go on IR from getting a parasite or something like that.late to discuss this but i think that chychrun deal is bad.

I think by UFA standards it’s still bad. if it were RFA I’d call it terribleI don’t disagree but show me a long UFA deal that’s really good? I think meh is likely the best you get for them.
Why dump Torts now with like three weeks left in the season? Not like they're in a playoff push lol
