Around the NHL 2024-25 regular season Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
First one should be Kadri.
Second one I don’t know who he is. Is he ended his career? 76 games in the last season is more than any player could play this season for now.
Correct on Kadri, the other is Perron

These guys are 34 and 36 years old and are still producing good numbers. Very consistent over their careers

Yeah, Perron is very consistent. Like a clock tower.

Kadri is some kind of popular in rus community because he is playing in Calgary and a lot of our fellows Belorussians fans are watching Yegor and young player Yegor Sidorov who is playing in the system(he is from Belorussia too). So Kadri is popular person to argue about as potential player for the trade because of his style of play, his role and his deal that should prevent from expensive price.

Sure the PP is off but that’s a lot of SHG lol

Teams with more than 1 SHG Since Jan 1st (the Rags have 8 lol)

I was so happy when we traded for him and when he signed that longterm deal. Guy was an animal during the 2012 Cup run. I still think there is more to the whole retirement thing and his contract getting squashed. Maybe it had to do with the team being up for sale and them trying to entice a new owner.

Regardless, Kovalchuk was similar to Ovechkin and was just a monster on skates. Power , speed , finesse , the elite shot and also great play making ability. He really had it all. No one would dare pick a fight with that man like how Schenn tried to do before he got pummeled. I love how he embraced Lemaire and committed to being a better defensive player. The Devils kind of changed the penalty killing game under Lemaire and Deboer with Kovalchuk being out there. I dont remember teams ever using players like that not known to really play hard defensively. It shows the importance of how big coaching and players developing later in their career can be.

Hey, well.. I've been a bit busy lately but what the heck is going on with our website here? Did the interweb demons decide to destroy us all?

The site decided that Bratt being good + Nemec scoring would break our sub so it just destroyed the whole site for a couple of hours

That 2012 run was the most fun I've had as a Devils fan in the last 20 years, so I will always have a soft spot for Kovy (and most of the guys on that team really). Yeah the end was messy, but him leaving when he did was probably better for the team in the long run, and the whole contract fiasco wasn't really his fault anyway.

Agreed here, we win in 2012 and I don't think anyone would care what Kovy did. I think we'd be slightly annoyed at Parise for leaving still.

All in all, he's still my 4th favorite Devil behind Jack, Marty and Patty. Younger fan, who started watching them in 08' so guys like Stevens and Dano wouldn't be able to be up there for me lol

There was actually a two or three year period where it felt like Kovalchuk was effectively retired. He was even the GM of Team Russia during the 2022 Olympics and didn’t even play for the team. Then he came back for a year last season I think?

And yeah, for some reason as much as I couldn’t stand him after what he did in 2013, I feel like I still have more long term bad feelings with Parise. I think Zach was a phoney and I’m even glad he went out with no cup and that 2012 was the longest playoff run he ever went on. He never even made the conference finals again or before that. I said I wouldn’t care if he got a cup last year, but I’m kind of glad he didn’t. f*** him.

I’m also glad he’s not one bit affiliated with the team or in any kind of alumni role, and that he’s not involved with the team in any capacity. Even to the level of Cory and Brian Boyle or how Gomez has been at times since his playing days ended. I’m glad he’s never publicly wore the Devils jersey or any memorabilia since he left here. And I’m glad he never played here again like Gomez and Holík, who had a redemption arc after being turncoats to the Rangers.

f*** him.

Kovy will always be okay by me. His was the first sweater I bought for my daughter before she was a teenager. I think what Parise did is far worse. The whole "don't worry" bit with fans while he was plotting with his friend to land in Minnesota.

It's too bad about 2012. One bounce in OT and I think we win the Cup that year, maybe if we didn't take the 5 minute major too. Definitely if Kovy is 100% healthy.

Fayne having the puck bounce on him with an open net on a 2-on-1 late in a tied game 1, and Kovy hitting the crossbar in overtime in game 2... that was it. Those two moments decided the series for LA. Those two go in, and we win. Still a great player, despite the contract nonsense and then the cut and run.
