Around the NHL 2024-25 regular season Part II

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
we already heard he was deciding to have surgery or play through - surgery being on the table already says it’s serious. have also heard not as serious as initially thought…

speculation from these reporters means nothing until we actually hear from the team but i’m gonna assume he’s out for the regular season and if he does come back for the playoffs it would be significantly less than 100%

just get the surgery and let a new gm try and build an actual deep roster for next season

Stupid if they deal him unless he’s flat out said to them he isn’t resigning there. They brought him in to win now that hasn’t changed the return won’t be worth it

He's flat out playing himself out of some big $ with how bad he's been with Carolina. Of course, if he does go UFA, some jackass will pay him anyway.

Carolina is a bit of an outlier as a team. They play that try to cause a turnover and just fling it at the net style. Teams interested in Rantanen are going to look past that as well as his recent struggles after he admitted being shocked by the trade. If you are Philly or Anaheim or (add whatever team has the cap-space and centers and needs offense) don't you just hand him a blank check in the offseason?

They probably would, but the Mackinnon factor is the question. Did playing with Mackinnon make him the player he was in Colorado? Time will tell.

I agree, to me that is the bigger issue. Presumably pro teams have video coaches and analysts that can break down his game video to decide if they think he's a complementary or play driving player.

Since MM was mentioned earlier...

We talked about it in one of the threads but it really doesn't look good since there was only 4 16 year olds on that team and only 4 guys who played in the NHL.

So chances are high that Bastian might have been involved, especially since he's best buds with MM.

Just another lovely addition to this shit storm of a week.
