Around the NHL 2024-25 regular season Part II

Early returns but Colorado fans are probably feeling a little bit more comfortable right now.

Carolina setting itself back like that was really helpful given how NJ is struggling. At some point you expect Carolina to get it together but at least they aren't pulling away from NJ right now.

Hall is probably toast.

I'm sure he'll get some goals and some points eventually. I don't think he's 1 point in 5 games toast, but I don't feel like he makes much of a difference at all anymore.

I doubt I'm gonna be right about this, but I wouldn't be shocked if this is his last year in the league. It probably won't be, but he feels much older than he really is.

Then again, maybe he doesn't. 34 year old forwards (he won't be 34 until November, which is next season) aren't particularly good. He's not Crosby or Ovechkin. We all see how lost Stamkos looks at 34 since he went bye bye to Nashville. He's 2 years older than Hall, but I'm pretty sure he was better 2 years ago than Hall is now. Kucherov factor aside.

I’m obviously enjoying the 7 game results but it’s too early to write off Rantanen in Carolina.

The most amusing twist I’ve read is Carolina trading him at the TDL if they can’t sign him, though that might be conjecture rather than reporting. (They have 8 game/~1 month, so tick tock lol.)

It’s hard to see Rantanen signing anything at this point unless Carolina offers something close to his asking price. Maybe he gives a little discount for taxes and maybe a little discount for the 8th year but if he really wanted something close to $13 mil per from the Avs hard to see him taking less from Carolina . Hard to see Carolina offering a deal that rich but crazier things have happened.

i hope he bleeds them f***ing dry

Pool Party washing out of the league. Man it's kind of crazy that Bratt is going to have a better career then 2-6 of his draft year
I saw he was on waivers for mutual contract termination today.

I was really surprised by that, because I didn't even know he was playing in the league or North America at all this year.

I seriously missed his 26 games with Pittsburgh this year.

Come to think of it, I didn't even realize he was even in the NHL last year. I have no recollection of him playing with the Pens and he apparently played 22 games there last year.

Last I remember him was his very brief stint in Carolina 2 years ago.

He played for W-B/Scranton in Utica on Jan. 24 in a 5-3 Comets win. He was the 3rd star with a Goal and an Assist. He was back in the lineup again in W-B/S the next night. he Comets lost 2-1 and Pool Party assisted on the winning goal.

W-B/Scranton scored 5 goals on the weekend and he figured in on 3 of them. He would be a great AHL player, but obviously he wants to play in the NHL or bust. He'll be back in Europe making good $$$ very shortly. Pitt just made him available because he has found a new taker. I'd bet Europe.
