It’s a slam dunk from a tactical perspective (they got good value) but I think it’s a strategic blunder (doubles down on an aging, malcontent core).

This team has been shit for the last month. We are headed for a match up against a team that made trades to get much better and so they can get home ice advantage over us (which benefits them greatly), while the Devils have been standing still with injury issues including to a top 6 center, who even when healthy, still was on a team that got shut out 6 times in the first half of the season.

And what did that feud start from, Sherlock? He hated how Petterson was during practice/games. Zibanejad, Krieder and their veterans have been lambasted all season taking games/shifts off. Miller won't like NYR either after the honeymoon fades. And good, that's why the Rags haven't won shit in the past 2 decades, they're the most short sighted franchise in pro sports.

And everyone knew that Vancouver would lose any Miller trade once Carolina traded for Rantanen since they were on the only other rumored trade partner. I'm so tired of Devils HFboards having this weird ass paranoid about NYR. The Rangers’ only other centers are a rapidly declining soon to be 32 Zibanejad and a declining soon to be 32 Trocheck. Their best wing is 33. They have to get something out of that group with Igor so it’s a fine move to make. Definitely not something I had the slightest interest in given our core.
