Around the NHL 2024-25 regular season Part II

I know he's not some analytics darling but if FLA is making OEL, Mikkola, Kulikov etc look good then I dont see how they're not gonna salvage some of what Jones has left.

A dogshit Chicago team was playing him over 24-26 minutes a game when he is clearly not a no 1 guy. I bet he looks better playing 20 minutes a night on a better system surrounded with better players.

For some reason (probably cause he's big RD) every coach for the last decade keeps playing him like he's prime Pronger.

He was bad before he got to Chicago too, only time he was good is when he was attached to Werenski's hip in CBJ

And he was deployed like a no 1 dman in Columbus too. A role he was not fit for and not many dmen are. I dont think he's ever been deployed as nothing less than no 1 dman since like Torts became a CBJ coach. And there was someone dumb enough to offer him a no 1 dman contract too.

I get what you're saying but Jones still had a prerogative to go out and prove people he deserved that contract. If you need everything to be perfect to be a top end player then there's an issue

I mean sure I guess? It isnt a risk I'd be willing to take

if they got him for a throwaway mid rounder or something, sure whatever, but they gave up a 1st and a pretty decent goalie

Yeah I dont love the trade but I was only talking about the dollar value to FLA. IF Jones can give them good top 4 minutes, its not horrible. Its Brett Pesce money.

I guess Ekblad wants a raise and FLA bets on Jones being able to replace him or part of him for less money.
 
It's been a long time since we've put two accounts on forced ignore but I'm thinking that's where we're headed if you can't stop bickering at every turn in every thread. It's not cute nor clever to constantly zero in on each other so knock it off. This isn't a CBS sitcom that needs shallow attacks as a central plot point and I certainly don't hear a laugh track.
