Coaches like "dependable" players. Hey, they may be dependably bad, but at least they're consistent!Coaches and GMs who rather trot out guys they perceive as “safe” despite those guys being bigger negatives than Sprong.

Tampa Bay and Boston is the other outdoor game, unless they're also going to do another Meadowlands doubleheader as has been rumored. Even when they put in a team that hasn't played before, or has only played in one game, they have to add one of five or six teams that's practically obligated to be in all of them. The only Winter Classic that was actually interesting as a matchup was Dallas/Nashville at the Cotton Bowl.Rangers and Florida for the Winter Classic is bleh

The issue is where to hold it. MetLife has two teams that play during NFL season, so they'd have to hope that they're not both scheduled there in the run-up because lol at that league playing nice with any of the other three. Yankee Stadium hosts the Pinstripe Bowl and that's in late December in the bowl schedule, plus they both played each other there already. The Red Bulls stadium is too small, same as the soon-to-be completed NYCFC stadium. The only one left to a league as small-minded as the NHL is Citi Field. The games are a month apart. January 2nd then February 1st. We're probably not going to get it for a while now but Devils/Rangers Winter Classic is something the league would be so dumb to miss out on during this era of the Devils. I guess we just have to wait for Quinn to get here lol. The Winter Classic is basically just an in market event but Devils/Rangers feels like one that could actually bring back some national interest to the event if promoted right (obviously asking a lot given this is the NHL)
He's just not that good of a player, which is why his hits are late and dangerous. He's trying to make good hits to elevate his team but he's too slow in his reactions. Probably that's the most dangerous thing about him.Rempe is in serious danger of not having a career. At least when Raffi Torres got sent out of the league he had been a player for a decade. While the Rangers obviously love this guy, they have to be running out of patience with him too.
Yes he has more skill but that makes him think he is a normal player and he goes for hits. Those hits end up being late or he makes the wrong type of contact and people get hurt. That's actually more dangerous than goons who know they can't actually play and all they do is wait for their pre-planned fight.I don't like Rempe, but he is definitely a better hockey player than most of the guys who were in the league with his sort of role 10 years ago. He skates much better than the two players the Devils have employed in this way over the last few years, and with just a little stick skills and positional awareness he can stick in the league.
The intentionally didn’t make it Devils/Rangers last year. I think the original plan was Devils-Rangers last year, but the league probably got push back from the Devils and ESPN opened up a second tv slot to make it a doubleheader weekend. The games are a month apart. He probably has to be handled like he's Hannibal Lecter, only permitted to talk without that muzzle cage over his mouth. Why is no one concerned that he hasn’t spoken in weeks? Sounds like psychotic behavior to me.

Normally I agree with you and I have been a pro-sprong guyCoaches and GMs who rather trot out guys they perceive as “safe” despite those guys being bigger negatives than Sprong.
That's because he's not playing ridiculously sheltered minutes. Which is basically par for the course in his career. His usage in Sea back in 22-23, the last time he had good on ice #'s, was super easy. Not surprisingly his offense dried up in the playoffs that year.Normally I agree with you and I have been a pro-sprong guy
but he's been pretty bad this year
So they're going to have 2 outdoor games in Florida...but not have either be between the two Florida teams? This league is so stupid.
I don't think people outside the host markets that actually attend them give a shit anymore, but hey New York and Boston are involved...again! Yay! And they're in football and baseball stadiums! Something fresh and new that I'm sure will just rake in the ratings.Eh, they need to sell those games out and get TV ratings.
It also doesn't help that Boston and NYR are both going downhill and likely won't be any better next year.I don't think people outside the host markets that actually attend them give a shit anymore, but hey New York and Boston are involved...again! II'm sure the next one will be Columbus against Detroit at OSU because Columbus will be the only franchise left (minus Utah) without an outdoor game appearance and Detroit is O6 and is the American O6 team with the least outdoor games.
