Around the NHL 2024-2025

Torts pretty much had to go after his comments after the game the other day. I’d say his coaching days are done but NHL teams love a retread.
Wouldn't surprise me if he got another job but if I was him I would just go back to the cushy TV job he had.

How funny would it be if Edmonton and Minnesota nose dives and us, Utah, and Calgary all get in.
Vancouver is more deserving than Calgary, and would make for a better matchup to watch.

I don’t see how Edmonton could fall that far that fast. Utah can’t make up enough ground. But between Minnesota, St Louis, Vancouver and Calgary…the race is on.

Basically said he didn't want to coach Philly anymore because they weren't contending. They had to let him go after that.
I think what he was trying to say after that loss was that he didn't want to learn how to coach in a situation like they are in (long losing streak, meaningless end-of-season), which I get. He thinks of himself as a coach who leads winning teams. But it came off sounding like he didn't want to be a part of any of it and he's clearly given up on the season so it didn't really leave them an option but to can him.

LeBrun said that Torts said even worse directly to Briere and that pretty much forced Flyers hand.

It came off as immature, which is embarrassing for a sixty-something-year-old. You play with the hand you're dealt, and it's mainly because of him that they're losing (because he kept benching young players like Michkov for every mistake and not playing the way he wanted them to play, trashed Frost and Farabee's value until Calgary got them for pretty much nothing in return, etc.).

Tortorella and Briere have ruined the Flyers organization with their decision-making, and Tortorella all but demanded to be let go because he didn't want to lose anymore. Well, tough shit.

Edmonton has McDrai injured and Skinner left last night as well. Calgary and Vancouver are only a couple games behind Edm if they have a few poor games without McDrai.

The East Wild Card race is atrocious.. The Blues would be 11 points above the 9th team in the East. We would also be 3rd in the Metro. Right now the teams battling for the final spot are all playing horrible hockey.

Montreal has 75 points in 71 games and in their last 10 they are 3-3-4
Islanders have 74 points in 71 games and in their last 10 they are 4-3-3
Rangers have 74 points in 72 games and in their last 10 they are 3-6-1
Columbus has 73 points in 70 games and in their last 10 they are 2-7-1
Detroit has 72 points in 72 games and in their last 10 they are 3-7-0

There are 5 teams that could have easily gotten ahold of the final spot within the last couple weeks and not a single one has stepped up to the plate. St. Louis, Calgary, and Vancouver would all be playoff teams in the East. Even Utah would be tied for the last spot with one more game played.

Welcome to the Eastern Conference March Mid-off

The East is awful. Buffalo is not yet eliminated. It wasn't long ago that the East became the power conference. It seems the power has shifted back to the West....maybe.
