Around the NHL 2024-2025

Isles f***ed the Blues.

Kadri scores in OT and Calgary is now only two points back with 2 games in hand. They control their own destiny and have a pretty mixed schedule remaining with a lot of games with San Jose and Anaheim remaining.

Calgary has a pretty brutal run of good teams and they're needing a lot of late magic to hold on against some pretty pedestrian clubs this week.

Tough games remaining: Dallas, Edmonton, Colorado, Utah, Vegas 2x, Minnesota, Los Angeles.

Light games remaining: Seattle (they're playing the best hockey of their season right now), Anaheim (also not quitting), San Jose 2x.

Yeah Anaheim is playing better. Might be wishful thinking but I wouldn't be surprised to see them split the two games left they have with Calgary

Calgary is not good. Every time I watch them play they look terrible. Lately they've managed to win multiple games despite playing poorly for 55 minutes.

Eventually, they're going to crack.

The other other guy in the Mikko Rantanen trade has more points than Rantanen. That's funny to me.
If anything, it reinforces that point production is dependent on much more than just skill (i.e. linemate quality, chemistry, powerplay time, coaching, offensive zone starts, etc).

Devils are terrible. Pissed away wins now against both Calgary and Vancouver. They might miss playoffs.
According to MoneyPuck, the Devils have a 91.8% chance of making it. Likely not enough time for their collapse but they're legitimately playing like one of the worst teams in the NHL right now.

You've got Keefe calling out players too. Nasty vibes there in Newark.

I wonder how many d-man contracts around the league are better than Parayko? We should consider ourselves fortunate we got him at that price when we did.

Chychrun may well end up being worth that much but it would make me nervous.
I liked him as a potential solution/target a few years ago when you could get 3 seasons of great contractual value and we were thin at LD.

But with Broberg as a long-term asset, Fowler as a short-term asset, and the prospect pipeline on our left side, I'm extremely content not having Chychrun at that price point. He's been really good for Washington and I think there is a good chance that he is valuable to them at that price point. But I'm not at all disappointed that he didn't reach UFA for us to try and lure him on a 7 year deal.

Yeah, I'm Chych-ed out on him. But good for him and the Caps that it's been working so well this year.

Kadri is such a bitch. He is all for sucker punching Montour but completely turtles when Montour decides to get serious and starts rag dolling him
