This might be the best case scenario for the Blues playoff hopes. Going against LA so much right now. I am watching the LA-CHI game and they look they are struggling. Chicago getting through neutral zone way to easy, gaps are huge.

They are a different team at home.

Guess they should have prioritized Broberg and Holloway. I find this as hilariously awesome news.

Maybe another seller going to close up shop.

The Habs have a 5 game win streak that puts them 1 point behind Detroit for the wildcard. I feel the Habs had 3 guys (Armia, Evans, Savard) who were likely to move, would be a hit to the rental market to lose that. It already seems like the dullest rental market of all time if you separate Rantanen out of the mix.

The Eastern Conference wild card race is a circus. I can't believe Montreal is still alive after their poor play prior to the break. This is shocking to me. Nobody wants to claim a playoff spot and run with it.

Could very much say the same thing about us.

Going 1-5-0 to close out January really should have been the end of any playoff hopes for us. Yes, we went 2-1-1 in the 4 games before the break and have gone on a great 4-1-1 tear coming out of the break. But we are also very fortunate that Vancouver is 1-4 out of the break and that Calgary is 2-2-1 out of the break (plus a 3 game losing streak going into the break). We were 7 points behind the playoff cut line on 2/1/25 and have only played 10 games since then. The fact that we are now only 1 point back is very much because no one wants to grab that WC2 spot and run with it.

The Eastern wild card race has been an absolute disaster for the last few years. Several teams always seem do their absolute best to trip over themselves right up to the end of the season.

Ryan McLeod of the Sabres just experienced season low usage during a back to back in which he got 13 min of icetime each game. Sabres took 2 Ls. Maybe he’s dinged up. Maybe he’s not in the future plans anymore. Maybe it’s maybeline.

I think in addition to that, he’s not solely looking to maximize $. Tank apparently wants to stay in Florida. His family was apparently there at beginning of last year and he steered trade there. Panthers aren’t likely to pay big and it’s not clear that he wants to go somewhere that will. So he waits.
Anyone who grew up in Siberia is bound to love Florida.

They peaked too early in this game and somehow pulled it out.

They had one shot in the final 27:13 of the game and managed to hold onto a 1 goal lead.

But peaking too early on the season is still in play. I actually like the Wild and think their fans deserve a winning team. If we're out of it, I have no problem with them winning it all. But I doubt it will be this year
