I think it is a fair debate about whether 10 games was enough, but we can't act like this isn't severe punishment. This is the biggest suspension for on-ice conduct since September of 2018. The vast majority of suspensions for 'hockey plays gone wrong' are in the 1-4 game range, so this is a pretty clear recognition that this wasn't just a hockey play gone wrong.

This is double what Reaves recently got for a really bad check to the head and Reaves also has a decent history. This is 2 games more than what Rempe just got. At the time of Rempe's 8 gamer, it was his 4th ejection and 2nd suspension in just 22 NHL games.

Again, it is a fair argument that Hartman should have gotten more than 10 games, but this is very much a major suspension by the NHL and a recognition that this play was one of the worst (if not the worst) on-ice incidents in the last 5 years.

I just don't think 10 games is enough. Is it severe? Sure but should be more. You have to make extreme examples out of this kind of shit.

I totally agree with you, the only thing I thought it should be more is the intent and he does have a bad history on that. even though he will miss games and $$$, a fine could be in order as well. To give a check that goes wrong is one thing, replay definitely shows his follow through was intent. No place in any sport for that!

That had Bertuzzi-Moore all over it. Hartman better be thankful he didn’t completely follow through.

And as I have said before, he should have had the shit beat out of him right there on the ice. if he hides? Then grab someone else wearing the same jersey. At that point you have to make him even hated by his own team.

Honestly, even before this, Hartman was one of the scummiest f***ers around the NHL. Just a total rat who played way over the edge, even for a rat.

He's played over ten seasons in the NHL and 663 games. He's been suspended or fined eleven times, including four times since 2023. Now he's falling off offensively, and even Wild fans are starting to hate him for his scummy play.
