Around the NHL 2024-2025

VAN did pretty well here considering the situation they were in. It was always gonna be JT, and he's older, on a long contract, and had a no-trade. What I like most for Vancouver is that now EP has to step up. They'll learn what they truly have in him fast now that the JT issue is settled. Both players look really bad for letting it get like this; still glad the Blues weren't buying either.

Good get for the Rangers. With the cap news we heard today, JT's contract could be extremely manageable through his mid 30s

I wouldn't rule out EP40 trade too this season.

I think the misstep is that there were clearly issues last year in the dressing room but winning quelled the cauldron burning underneath. But they could boil up anytime. That’s probably why the EP negotiations were so fraught last yr. They should’ve just traded Petterson to Carolina for a package centered around Necas. It would’ve extended their window to win with Hughes at an amazing cap hit. I don’t think that’s a hindsight 20/20 opinion. Considering everything that’s come out in the media, there had to be plenty of people in Vancouver that knew it would end this way last yr, they were just hoping it wouldn’t. They’d be wrong.

I’d still like EP in the Note though…
