“Horribly miscast” was a poor choice of words, too harsh. I’ll amend that to just “miscast”.

Apparently, Miller has been too hard on Petey and Petey emotionally shut down. What Miller was crabbing at Petey for is unknown, but if this is true (and it sounds like it is), then it demonstrates what I already knew; Petey is soft.

The first game that miller and petersson face off against each other has become must see tv. Be fun to see who shows up to play.

Hopefully the trade gives that to us this season.

The rumor I heard was that the GM wanted Miller to toughen EP up and apparently it has backfired massively.

Utah will not become the Yetis.
Eh…maybe, maybe not. The cooler company could opt to allow it eventually after some “per$ua$ion”. After all, having more swag on the streets with your name on it isn’t necessarily a bad thing, unless the hockey team does something horrific to drag your own name thru the mud.
Thats a consideration of course; that the brand suddenly becomes associated with something embarrassing and you become guilty by association.

I think most people are reasonable enough to separate a pro sports entity from a cooler company, despite the ruling at the Trademark office. They just can’t brute force their way to the name they want without smoothing it over with the original owner first. My current company was formed after a merger of two companies and became something new…a name already in use by an investment company. The suit is being settled now, and the name will ultimately be shared. It’s probably more common that you’d think.

The other conference is nuts.

8 teams within 5 points of the wildcard lead. Nyr got back on the saddle and is gobbling up points.

I wonder if we’re going to see trade deadline sellers or if we’re going to get a very weird deadline. If we expect conferences to avoid trading with each other; it may be very difficult for our conference opponents to improve if there are only a few sellers.

Once again, the NHL loses to the thermos/cooler industry. How they allowed the term “Stanley Cup” to be taken over by a mug popularized by Karens I’ll never understand.

Personally, if the Detroit Red Wings and Red Wing Shoe Company can coexist (with very similar logos too!) then I think we can have both a Yeti hockey team and YETI cups/mugs. I just hope this doesn’t cause them to just stick with Utah HC. It’s unique but just don’t like hiw it looks.

What I find funny is that Miller was supposed to be the hard nosed guy, but he needed to take time off for some “time and space”.

I’m all for mental health checks and making sure people are taken care of. It’s just hilarious to me that Pettersson is the soft one while the tough guy needed some “me time” away from his job. Unrelated, but the more I learn about Miller, the more it confirms what I believed. He’s a dickhead.

Buffalo came back to beat Vancouver in regulation. John “break for the Blues” Kelly would be pleased. We play them on Monday.
What I want to know is how does he choose which players to incessantly tell you where they're from as opposed to the players he never tells you where they're from.

Is it that he loves the town of Pittsburgh so he says "the Pittsburgh native" for (we all know the player he's said it more than 8,000 times)?

man he loves to tell us where those guys are from

but just those guys. it's so weird

"The Pittsburgh native"..."break for the Blues"..."first round pick in '09"..."oh, and he missed by about 25 feet"
Both John and his brother certainly didn't get their father's ability to paint a picture and inject emotion into a hockey game.

yeah but if your dad was Dan Kelly that's so unfair, you are just never going to win that

I mean sure, but for a guy who has that much hockey in his blood he doesn't seem to really internalize and reveal a deep rooted knowledge of the game...like count how many times he says during a broadcast "I THINK" that penalty is on X player who obviously committed the infraction. This doesn't even get into his robotic personality...Darren Pang is the only one who was able to bring out even a fragment of that...Federko/Kelly, Rivers/Kelly...just three really boring guys who made/make a for a lifeless telecast.

I have noticed the robotic aspect. He was super awkward in person the one time I met him. It was Quebec Dec 1991, Ken Wilson spotted me in my Blues jersey in the upper concourse and brought me up to the booth where I met Kelly too. What's funny is I can so so so easily imagine him at the poker table because I know he plays a lot.

I don't care how it happens but in a few years I want David Perron to be the Blues color guy. Can you imagine how great that would be? He would be really skilled at it. I want Perron to be the color guy during the Steen Era. We want this we need this we should get this. Look, there they both are right there, I'm looking at them with Blais in between them

Awkward...ya, Kelly definitely human embodiment of that word.

Ha...I always like the idea of a former player with a heavy French Canadian accent as the color guy.
