Islanders continue to do things their way — sometimes boldly

The whole "goalies are voodoo" line made me think of this edition of the PDOCast:



Kevin Woodley talked about some of the reasons why the Isles goalies were so good last year.

A big part of it is that the goalies and D are all on the same page with how to play things with the D trying to take away the far side options so that the goalies can focus on the short side, among other things.

There is a lot of talk in the pod about how Markstrom had the same exact Save% in 18-19 as 17-18, yet he looked much better and the advanced metrics from Clear Sight Analytics backed it up saying that Markstrom way over-performed compared to the prior season because the chances against were of much higher quality.
