Trotz just secured his job. Less competition on the coaching market at least.

If Dundon is trying to pay GMs what we're probably paying Rammer, then I doubt they'd be able to match our contract offers.

So, do we start talking about how the Penguins are finally on the decline, or was this just a "it's hard to threepeat" situation and we'll see them right back in it next year?

It'd be really nice if the Rangers played their cards right and ended up being the Penguins of the next decade.

They have Sheahan, Simon, Rust, Kuhnackl and Oleksiak as RFAs this year. They might let Sheahan walk.
They have 70.2m tied up with 9F, 6D and 2G.

Haha bye bye Pingus

There is the kind of hatred I have for the Islanders/Flyers/Devils/Capitals/Canadiens

And then there is the raw "I would be happier if they didn't exist" hatred I have for the Penguins. Luckiest sports franchise OF ALL TIME

Agreed. But I still don't hate them as much as the f***ing Devils or Islanders. Or even the Flyers.

Oh trust me, Growing up on LI, currently living in Philly, having in-laws in Pittsburgh I've spent plenty of time amongst the fanbases of all of those teams (except devils fans because they are like unicorns). The penguins fans are BY FAR the worst. Philly fans at least know what the hell they are talking about.

Going through the strip district of Pittsburgh there was a a t-shirt store selling a shirt with a father and son on it.

Son: Dad, Whats is it like to lose?
Dad: I don't know son, we're Penguins fans.

This was summer of 2014.

I, for one, am glad the Pens are done. I hate them SO much more than I do the Caps. **** Crosby. A 3-peat would have been gut wrenching. So pleased it isn't going to happen.
Agreed. I hate no team more than them. Besides their success, they have the league and the NBC announcers in their back pockets.

I actually really like the Pens fans on here. They’re active, and have a lot of knowledge fans; I remember there Ryan Reeves thread, it was exactly like the Glass threads on here.

Crazy to think that before last night, the last 2 teams to eliminate the Penguins in the playoffs were both the New York Rangers.
Rangers had a really good team for years that eliminated both Pitt and the Caps multiple times. We didn't win the cup but we had some really strong years.

Trotz doesn't have a contract so he can take his conference finals appearance to the open market ala Babcock.

****ing ecstatic that ****ing Pens were ****ing eliminated!

Also happy for Ovie (a truly generational goal scorer) to finally be able to get this 2nd round monkey off his back.

But now it’s back to NYR business and I want TBL to advance to SCF.
Ovi took a hit to his legacy the past couple years, with how good those caps teams were and with Sidney Crosby winning back to back. Sidney distances himself legacy wise. When only 3-4 years ago it was the talk of the league to blow up the penguins and trade Crosby over malkin considering his concussion history and price on the market. I think if OVechkin won a cup one of the previous two years and Crosby and the penguins were their previous usual playoff disfunction we’re looking at the ovi Crosby debate in a whole new light. Think of the narrative behind Crosby 3 years ago.
-Super talented but no one good works with him.
-not a leader
- injury prone
-not a playoff performer.

Sidney has silenced almost all of that the past run. Ovechkins resume doesn’t stack up to Crosby’s the way it did 3-4 years ago

Where in my post did I compare Ovi and Sid? I specifically called Ovechkin a "generational scorer" which he is, and left it at that.
